I designed a 30x24 pear on a piece of Blue Mountain. The bottom had issues so I made the bottom the top (picture 1). I roughly ground the shape and started taking down to see the scene. It was a 10mm preform so I kept grinding and then a vug appeared on the top. More grinding and it was persistent. Normally, I would stop and trim it with my saw but the top 80 removes material so fast I ground without marking and ended up with a 37 mm shield. I'm not a fan of the color splotch in the upper left but am pleased with the result. Through 280 soft. I'll dop it and finish it in the next few days. With vugs persistence and flexibility are needed and this time I didn't need to toss the preform.
