Hello all. I have been collecting rocks since I was a little kid. I just love em. Especially sparkly or shiny ones.
I am just starting with tumbling. I have bags of rocks that look good wet, so I hope they tumble up shiny.
My biggest hitch is a large diameter tumbler. I have started with a teeny 1.5 pound NSI that I was gifted with a while back. Since it has such a little barrel I am stuck doing little rocks.
We recently moved and have been getting truck loads of 2 inch crushed clear from the Cadman High Rock quarry. I now have piles and piles of sparkly quartz, agate, and other cool rocks. So many different crystal structures - little prismatic geode ones, flat planes like mica, dark purplish ones, sparkly layered with agate. I figure learning what they are would be good so I don't ruin good rocks.
Despite years collecting, I don't know much. I am looking forward to browsing the posts and learning more!! Reeniebeany

Welcome to RTH! I used to know Monroe well, kinda grew up there for a few years. It has exploded since then. Still have relatives all over the Seattle area.

Greetings and welcome from Scotland on the other side of the pond! www.washingtonminerals.com/cq.htmOnly "Quartz, variant: banded blue Chalcedony" should be tumbled as Calcite is too soft and will disappear and creating big holes, where the Calcite once was!-

Hello, Fellow Washingtonian. I live in Arlington. I do lots of rock hounding in Deception Pass. I am also planning a trip to Agate Beach on Lopez Island. I also like the rivers up here. You can pick up some pretty Jade. I like to hike also. Washington rocks! (sorry for all the I's)
