You really have some nice ones here! I think that Tahoma, Biggs and Royal Sahara will be outstanding! Fran

I have always liked Blairrock. They are not large slabs but he tells you if they have a crack that you have to work around so you know exactly what to expect. Inexpensive as well. I have made some great cabs out of his material but unfortunately have not had much time lately to work through all the slabs I have in the garage... Fran

Don't give up on the rotary's yet. I often like to use the barrels first to smooth out rough edges and then when I like the looks of a stone, I set it aside until I have enough for a vibe batch to complete and polish. Seems to work well.

That looks like Jade to me. Usually has more of a white skin but if tumbled by the ocean, it is logical that it would not have as much. Looks like you may have some great color as well.

The first one should turn out well. The second may give you some grief but if it turns out, it will be fantastic! Fran

Just keep in mind that obsidian can also continue to have pits throughout. You will want to pull the good ones as they shape well and then continue the ones you are not happy with. Obsidian is softer than agates so mixing them can be a problem in later stages. I find glass filler works well with obsidian because it is the same hardness and all silicates. just keep the barrels about 3/4 full at all times or you will start breaking them instead of rounding them.
Just my two cents.

My Christmas gift this year from my husband is a Jersey Instruments Omni. I do not have it yet since they were backlogged and apparently there is only one person qualified to build them. I should get it in January but since I have no idea how to facet, have only cabbed and tumbled before, it is going to take some learning. My husband also got me the two volumes by Tom Herbst so I have just started reading volume 1. I will let you know what I think as soon as I start trying to use it.

Looks like a great batch and I am really impressed with how well your tigers eye turns out. That can sometimes be so fractious.
