My mind is failing me. The attached photo is LIKE the one I am trying to identify. The photo is rhyolite/wonderstone material. What is the "sandstone" soft version, that looks just like it, called? Thanks!!

I am no genius at this, but it looks a lot like some "reconstituted" rock that I bought to sell on Etsy recently. What I believe it is, is, "real" rock, powdered, and mixed with an agent, perhaps resin or acrylic, to make a workable piece of material. Terri

Hi Everyone! I haven't been on for some time....Life gets in the way sometimes... . We went to an agate/rock show. I saw some lepidolite chunks on a table as I flew by to a more important place. Sent my hubby back to grab some for me..... He came back with Labradorite.... I have Labradorite, but need some Lepidolite (Preferably purple, but I would also consider yellow) .... small enough to cut on my tile saw preferentially, and relatively inexpensive enough to chop up for resale. Thanks in advance for any help. I have bought many items here before, but haven't for the last year or two....so I am a bit of a forgotten cousin. Terri

Hi Scott,
Haven't been on here much lately, and I have rock coming outta my ears.... can you see it?? lol... I have purchased many things off RTH, and sold a couple of things. I have a small tile saw, and would like somewhere around 10 +/- lbs of your Mariposite. Can you PM me, if you have any left, along with how many $$, for the stone and postage, please?? I will pay by PayPal asap. I have a store on Etsy, and have been a **mostly lurking** member here for a long time.
Thanks!!
Terri

I think for the project that she is working on, that it needs to be "the real thing".... If she is not successful in finding "real" obsidian, then she may resort to black glass, but I have pretty much excused myself from the job.
By the time I find the stuff for her, for the price to get the "real thing", and pay myself a little for the time and effort, plus shipping it once and most likely twice, for sourcing it, and processing it , then to her, it just got too complicated and arduous.
This is just "on a bet" for her, and if it takes off for her, I don't want to go through this process again.
Thanks for your support and suggestions.

Thanks again guys... I bowed out of the project. Way too much work, for what I saw as much potential value. If she can get it, she will work just as hard as me for it.

Thanks you guys, I don't think she had any real idea of what she was asking for. I passed the information to her, along with a little of *my knowledge*..... Limited as it is...lolol... I have sent her in a different direction .... This is on a bet for her.... and She needs to re-think her commitment to her need for "Real" obsidian.
Thanks for your help, and input. I appreciate it.

Thanks Phil,
She wants black. My bigger concern is the polish part. I have all sorts of and flavors of the stuff, just not big enough, and if it was big enuf, I couldn't polish it any way...lolol.

Yeah Mario,
I am aware of the difficulties, and implications. Her MAX request is 2" thick... I am not sure she knows how heavy it would/would be. I can probably get the obsidian from Tony Funk, but am not so sure I want to ship it all over the country to be cut and all....
There are so many and such a range of great people here, I thought I would toss it out for at least a reaction. The idea of a counter top place or even a monument company (just thought of that) is a good one. I am not sure she is going to want to pay the price, because after she pays whatever (expensive) processing it wold be, she will then have to mark it up.
Thanks for your input.

OK... I have had a request from an Etsy customer.
I need to see if there is ANYONE who can help me source Obsidian... I know Tony (Catmandewe) has the rock. She is looking for:
an 8 x 10-ish slab, to fit into an 8 x 10" barnwood frame.... 2" thick or less. Doesn't have to be perfectly squared, but large enough to cover the 8 x 10 opening.
Polished, I think on one side.
It is for a Metaphysical project she is working on. She wants to sell it, framed. So our price has to be wholesale-ish.... I don't have the means to cut anything like that, or the means to polish it... I am not sure if it is even possible, at a cost that would be within reach, with shipping, and processing. I told her I would ask around.
If she does what she hope and sells it fast.... She may be back for more.
Let me know any thoughts....
Thanks in advance!!
Terri
