I believe you are correct, Son Of Beach. An RTHling living in AZ, Brian beefjello, took photos of the very same plant, while on a rock expedition to one of his favorite rock hounding locations - in Arizona. Funny that the same plant is found over such a wide range.

Arizona/Phoenix would be the ultimate drone zone mohs . '7 Miles High' was a song title ? Right on James Imagine droning our valley views would have its peaks This guy did pretty good job Just hiking up to that Estrella Peak Butte what is impressive is that quartz top ! I had no idea Never seen anything like it Just imagine that quartz formed deep in the earth rode up in major fault lift & stayed deposited on the top That wild in mohsimago O yeah its the Byrds & they were 8 miles high Butte it might been mohsdrone altitude limitation... Seven miles, eight miles. You were that close, lol. High enough up that the human body would not safely come to earth from. Not unless you could fly.

mohs quite a view for you and the Hohokam to see. When I read this and looked at the clouds I saw one of the ancients looking back. Looks like one of those old timey sock monkeys... after smokin' a joint or two, lol.

rockpickerforever Jean - Happy belated! Sorry I missed it, but I'm happy you had a good day. Yes, I did but thanks for the happy! We just finished dinner out on the patio. We've been watching the interesting clouds all afternoon, now getting heavy periodic rainshowers, lots of lighting and thunder. The weather has been so strange of late! We had lightning, rain and hail a week ago Friday, so about ten days ago. I was at my dad's today, about twenty minutes away. No rain, but one clap of thunder at 2 pm. I missed a big storm at home this morning around 10:30, like the one ten days ago. What is going on with our weather? At first I was thinking some one has found a way to influence our weather patterns. You know, bigger storms, hurricanes, millions of dollars spent on damages? Drought, damaging hail? To ruin crops? Will say no more until this goes into the cave......

These events are a total shame rockpickerforever . Regarding the dogs...Most comments were "dogs just doing their job" etc; however this comment was expected - "Even if it was an intruder, trespassing is not a death penalty crime." Solution - stay the hell out of people's homes ! Ok, fine you people with that opinion can allow break-ins if your heart bleeds so much for such individuals. Just a reminder, many of them have no intentions of leaving witnesses. James, I imagine your lazy, couch potato RRs would lick someone to death, lol. They are racers, snoozers and lovers. Hmm, maybe not? My sister's two female pits (one is 1/4 boxer) sometimes go after each other, when one will get a bug up her ass. It's not pretty when they go red zone, and just won't stop. It took a hard stream from the hose to get them to part, and then one on them (the full pit) wanted to keep going. Good thing this happened outside, they have gone at it in the house before. Funny thing is, they love all people, and getting belly rubs. Not people aggressive at all

10 days ago "Man Killed by Dogs Newnan, GA - A 21-year old man is dead after being mauled by two pit bulls in Coweta County. Alex Binyam Abraha of Atlanta, a possible intruder, entered a home on Walt Sanders Road on September 24 and encountered two pit bulls. He was found dead on the front porch when the homeowner returned. Coweta County sheriff's deputies responded to the scene. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be a dog mauling. Investigators say that evidence indicates that Abraha was inside the home where the dogs were located, but at some point died outside the home. Investigators say the homeowner, who was not home during the fatal pit bull mauling, does not know the man or why he would be inside his residence. According to deputies, Abraha has active warrants out for his arrest in Fulton County. No charges are expected against the homeowner, who law enforcement did not publicly identify." signs on house owner's front door: "Fox 5 News captured footage of the home's front door and porch, which has a sign stating, "Never mind the dog, beware of owner!" Another sign states, "Lord, make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true and my hand faster than those who seek to destroy me. Grant me victory over my foes and those that wish to do harm to me and mine. Let not my last thought be, 'If I only had my gun.' And Lord, if today is truly the day that you call me home, let me die in a pile of empty brass." James, I saw that story. Such a shame that the young man picked the wrong path in life. He had no business entering that man's home, the dogs just did their job. I suspect the criminal, due to his penchant for the illegal, would not have lived a full life anyway. He'd have died young somehow, or been in jail. Just hope he hadn't passed on his genes yet...

Some more color for the Festivities Thank you, 'dule. Love those colors! RickB, I know weekend rules apply, but I did not imbibe. You know you are getting old when you have no desire for a birthday drink. I'm sure I've lost enough brain cells over my lifetime, lol. Thanks for the joke, Pat. Thanks, Al Rockindad. Birthday pizza is just fine. My dad has been buying the same pizza (#15) from the same place forever. My younger sister was going to cook Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner, I told her not to get carried away. But she surprised me, and changed the standardarx order - one #15, And one Chicken Cordon Bleu pizza. It was pretty good. Didn't play with any rocks today, but it was a good day. Maybe just a tad warm at 93 degrees, but better than hurricanes, rain, or snow!

Years ago, we kept a giant desert hairy scorpion in a gallon glass jar, on the counter in our bathroom for over a year! It was a great conversation starter.
But then, most people could not get over the quantity of pet snakes in our home. A mobilehome, at that.
ETA - There are only two persons living in our house hold. We put out a 1/3 to 1/2 filled kitchen trash bag of trash per week. We recycle everything that our waste company will take, we have a large bin for green waste. We put most green waste in the mulch pile. We don't put aluminum cans in the recycle bin, those I save to recycle myself for the CRV, which was desinged to get people to recycle. It's not for scrappers/homeless to go through your cans (making a mess, while they are at it!) when out at the curb.
Recycling starts at the grocery store, don't purchase over packaged "instant" foods in plastics.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.
Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read.

Here's the exterior of a typical specimen. That knife could have ripped him a new one! He should have known better that to have eaten that!
