While we're at it. Hope that this SC is not out of line on this? Felt as though I should post concerning my recent order with The Rock Shed. I don't know how he was able to do this but the Order was called in late Friday afternoon. Shawn took down the order sent it that afternoon using, as advertised the best, fast, cost effective way to send it. Every thing arrived Today.
In the Service we would describe his Customer Service as Highly Commendable. Thanks Shawn ... the candy was appreciated and quite delicious. IV USAF 62-66

I would call Don and talk to him. I have only used the 50K Vibra Dry in a Vibe that I use for jewelry polishing. I will throw finished cabs in there for a while even after getting a wet shine on them with the usual way. For some reason the 50K Vibra Dry really seems to make them pop even more. Called & talked to Don ... Very knowledgeable & helpful. Appreciate the info you posted about what & how you use the Vibra-Dry. In the process of doing up some gemstone preforms. Using both the wet & experimenting with incorporating the dry procedure. Hoping to obtain the excellent results you've been able to do. Thanks again! IV

Vibra Dry is made by Diamond Pacific. I don't tumble, but I would guess that Kingsley North and The Rock Shed both also carry similar products. Will/should give Don, I believe his name is at Diamond Pacific a call? Have Edward E. Smith book on How to Tumble Polish Rocks into Gems. It states that Mr. Smith was the inventor of the Vibra-Dry Compounds, Viking-Vibra-Sonic, and the Mini-Sonic Tumblers.
His Book, Tumblers & Compounds I'm just trying to get familiar with? He lists what he called a Wet'nDry "Deep Luster" compound and a brief description of the material that he developed. Not sure, if our Forum Family has ever used it or if it is on the market?
With that said ... I decided will have to go with the Original Vibra-Dry polishing compound that is still available through Diamond Pacific as you mentioned. Perhaps at some time there may be somebody here that has used the Vibra-Dry and can enlighten me a bit?
Thanks for taking the time to reply. IV USAF 62-66

Is there anybody here on our rocktumblinghobby family that sells or can direct this SC to where I can compare pricing & buy Vibra-Dry compounds for Vibratory tumblers? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you very much! IV

Thanks for the Update & The Rest of the Story. As an hands on owner of a previous Lortone Ls 12 an getting many cutting oil face & clothing baths, etc. I retired & sold the Lortone. I purchased the same type from HP and have never been more satisfied. HP has done their homework on working out the short comings of the Lortone.
Watch their videos! As HP has posted above the improvements made. I have, found out first hand that the multitude of improvements, additions as mentioned & posted make this Saw a pleasure to work with.
Anyone that has had to change the cutting oil, replace bearings, or had problems making adjustments with the cutting cross slide, just to name a few, will appreciate the time & research that had to go into the HP.
Please note - that the Lortone LS 12 I used was adequate. I'm sure my HP replacement will last longer than I will. Keep in mind that I found that the HP staff are not resting on the laurels but always looking & working for ways to make the equipment design & improvements for the future.
Also, that I am not in anyway involved or paid or promoted to make this assessment of HP. Just a satisfied & content HP customer. Hope this hands on assessment & report will help? Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and drain the oil on the HP 12.

Dear Friends ... Hope I'm not out of line here? This SC likes to tumble from time to time & I enjoy our Rock tumbling Forum Family. Would like to know if anybody may have any old Raytech Faceting accessories or components setting around, For Sale? Maybe an old handpiece, index gears, facet finders, laps, dops, etc, related to faceting would help this old SC. Thank you very much! IV USAF 62-66

A couple three photos with detail on what's broken or missing would help. My Graves and the Sapphire faceting machine I hope to get soon have parts that look relatively interchangable. Tony and a few others here may be able to find you alternatives, the facetors guild may be able to help as well, real smart people there when it comes to things that make little shiny things. Thanks for the update ... I'll see what I can do?

MLS sells Lortone & REEntel maybe others? them in stock as far as I know. Hope this helps? MLS also sells a variety of equipment as listed in their catalog.

Apologize for the late reply. Thanks ever so much for the contact. After shopping/searching about I had already purchased a REENTEL International Arbor. 6" 6 Wheel assembly. They come complete with spacers, shaft nuts, wheel flanges, and installed pulley with drive belt and a motor mounting base. I will have to come up with a drip or spray system for the wheels and provide a motor but they are perfect to build up your own customized arbor assembly.
Very well made. It will last longer than this SC. Fast turn around with the order. They manufacture and have two types on hand. The mild steel unit - powdered coated and the all stainless steel unit. Affordable ... IV USAF 62-66 Oh cool. Glad you found one. That REENTL makes the Cabking. I'm curious what their steel arbor looks like. Do you have a photo? REENTELINTERNATIONALARBORS ... ivan if you are still waiting, you might want to contact Rod Riel at Riel@comcast.net He makes a six wheel aluminum powder coated unit that can be adjusted to accept 6" or 8" wheels. Called kingsleynorth, however they are on backorder. For now I'll be standing by. Thanks for taking the time give me a place to start. IV Apologize for the late reply. Lortone sells a 6”, 6 Wheel, part number 033-090, 26” W x 17” L x 8” H, $515.00 All stainless. The more expensive version comes with water system part number 033-095, $655.00. This is a good unit. But the water reservoir is too small unless you want to refill every 30 seconds. the reservoir can be fixed with a 5 gal bucket or water line. So far the only two manufacturers has been Lortone and a company called Hans Super Abrasive Grinder. Has anybody on the Forum purchased the Hansuperabrasive grinder and has any experience with them or may there be other manufactures? Thanks for the update!

Dear Friends .... This SC is looking to upgrade to a Lapidary Cabochon Grinder Polisher Arbor. Preferably a 6 wheel capacity. Have been considering a 6" SS unit that has provisions to add a complete water drip system. Something like a basic unit without the wheels and a motor.
Was hoping somebody would have a listing of the manufacturers or sellers of a unit of this type that I might contact. If we have sellers or dealers here on Our Forum that can help feel free to post or PM if you desire. Any an ALL assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much! Seen your posting. Hope that this may help. Highland Park Lapidary has a number of instructional & information videos. On their site, I believe and youtube. They have been well done and should address most of the equipment they manufacture and sell. 3 years ago I purchased the exact model you have pictured. It has worked out very nicely. I like the idea they have incorporated with the shut off. When your cut is finished the machine shuts down and has a number of safety features that when you open the lid or cover it WILL not start/kick back up ... giving you an oil bath an every thing near by . Check out their videos if you get a chance. I liked the way the saw was constructed and operated, that I purchased one of their Highland Park Model HT 12 to replace the Lortone LS 12 and the oil baths that this SC would get from time to time. With that said I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted. IV

Quality rainbow moonstone (labradorite) is hard to find. Most comes from India and ordering from there is always a crapshoot. Besides, they prefer to sell cut goods, not rough. I had one supplier for cut RM that offered quality stones but he's no longer selling. If you're interested he has the best I've ever seen but it's $$$. His name and contact info are on file and I can look it up if you wish. Appreciate the update and thank you for taking the time to share your findings concerning this matter. I'll have to pass on that supplier, for now!

I have seen lots of drill core and know places it can be picked up by the truckload. However, I have never seen discarded core samples that large. Thanks for taking the time to post your observation. That probably explains why I haven't been able to come across any that large so far. IV
