Well she finally finished this batch. Turned out pretty good was surprised to see the gold ones hold the gold color and one has a purple tint to it in the light seems to be the same type of rock as the gold

Well she was up first thing this morning ready to start the next step... changed it up and after we cleaned everything from step 1 I have it a hour run with just borax, ivory and some plastic beads.. we were surprised how dirty it was and how much better they looked... now off to step 2 till next weekend...
Was laughing as when I was a kid dad found me a tumbler. He was a truck driver and brought me a 5 gal pail of plastic beads... he told me that's all I needed.. ran it all summer and nothing ever happened... was so disappointed.. never touched it again..lol

My little one likes tumbling the rocks she finds from old mines... especially the stuff loaded with fools gold... after it's done it comes out with a cool gold shine to it

Canada Post is on a work slowdown and have a huge backlog of parcels. Stuff I ordered in the last week of Nov (with 2 days shipping) is only now arriving. If you buy something in Canada, I would suggest using a courier. However, I still like to have items from the USA shipped via USPS, because the couriers charge extra to take care of the customs. I love northern BC and plan to be in Atlin next summer. Ya my last thing I ordered last month took 14 days to ship out from the Ottawa Canada post terminal.. according to them bad weather lol

Gotta love waking up to a mess of slurry all over my daughter's floor. Her machine developed a hole in the lid overnight... worse part was I just picked up a new belt and was thinking j should replace the lid... dohh

Gezz Maby I should order that grit. What ever I'm tumbling now is frigging hard. 4 weeks adding more grit every 2-3 days and they still look like they could use another month or more. I grabbed some crap gravel out of the driveway to use as filler and it ground down in 2 days..lol

I just stick my fingers in and run the slurry through my fingertips.

I run plastic pellets from stage 2 to final polish. I also started running a soap stage on those cycles as well

Definately start out with something within your budget. I started out my little girl with a 3lb tumbler. Just wanted to see if she liked it.. this summer I'm going to build a tumbler as she likes it and I want to run multiple barrels and she has some bigger rock that will not fit.. sorta paperweight rocks...lol

Tire patch worked pretty good. Sealed down tight and no were for grit to get trapped. On a side note I noticed that the hard plastic lid has practical and grit embedded into it. Guess I'll get a spare lid for polish stage until I can get a spare barrel.

I have about the same size tumbler. If you look around online you can find your supply cheap. I just bought a 1lb of the 4 steps cheaper then I could have went to the lhs and bought just enough for 1 batch. Also for steps 2,3,4 I run plastic beads. Helps cushion the stones

Got ahold of him today. Guess he foes not check voicemail. He was more than happy to ship me a new barrel. Asked me to ship the old barrel Back when I was done my current batch as he had never herd of this and wanted to shoe the manufacturor of the barrel. For now we settled on pictures of the defect due to shipping costs and we will go from their if they need it back. So I'm happy.. I plan on building a system this summer if the little one is still interested that will run multiple barrels. Then I can build my own barrels for the cost of 1 new barrel in my area
