Roundup is inactive when it hits the soil, It has to contact the green growing areas of plants to be effective, have used it for years with good results,

I have also used some of the thin super glue, The stuff I used is called 2P10. It is a woodworking glue and a little slower setting, I have heated slabs and spread the glue on a fracture and put it under vacume till it sets (about 10 minutes). Has worked on about 80% of the fractures I have used it on.. The woodworking resin used to stabilize wood is called cactus juice and is cured by heating it after the wood has been submerged in the juice and put under vacume, There is a couple good utube videos on stabilizing wood for woodturning, They explain everything much better than I can

Melhill, You can use some food saver machines if it has the external vacume line, be careful not to vacume any of the liquid into the machine, I used the one I have a couple times but they may shut down when it reaches full vacume, I bought a small vacume pump off eBay brand new for 52.00 so cheaper than destroying my wife's food saver. Lol There are plans on utube on how to build a chamber using a brake bleeder gun, A jar that will hold the liquid and the slab you are trying to stabilize and as long as it seal and you can put a vacume to it, I have used the epoxy acetone mix a few time with good success. If I get a chance I will get a pic of the setup I use, A picture is usually easier to understand with written instruction

Your sapphire looks amazing, Really like the type of cut you did, Am in the process of learning to use a faceting machine I picked up in a sale, And have a handful of Montana sapphires to cut if I ever get brave enough.

A couple years ago at work we used a pressure washer that was hooked up stationary, it was a 4 ft x 7ft sheet of plexi glass and the pressure nozzle was in the center spraying away from the operator that stood behind the plexi glass, there was 2 arm holes that you put your arms through, Sort of like a sandblasting cabinet, Then you wore heavy rubber gloves and held the part you wanted to wash in front of the nozzle , with the gloves your hands are protected, And we were working with 1000 psi pressure, Worked fantastic for washing the parts we were cleaning, that way we held the parts and didn't have to worry about them being pushed all over from the water pressure

No that's definitely not uber expensive rare difficult to find Imori stone. So I will send you my address and you can just mail it to me. I will trade you some kind of tumbling material!!! LOL I am never lucky like that...sigh... Hey thanks orrum, I thought it was, oh well guess I was wrong, and being as you were helpful I would not want to burden you with worthless material, so I can just put it in wife's flower bed, That way it won't be in your way either And you you are lucky, You are part of a great group here and you play with rocks

Have a question about opal, Picked up several jars of various types of opal from an estate, all the jars of opal are filled with oil, thinking its vegtable oil judging by the smell (not good). The dates on the jar seals are all 1978. Does anyone know about storing opal in oil ? As I have never seen it done before or heard of it. Have cleaned some and it is going to be a long messy job. 😝
