Silkstone, this was very hard to dome and I could not figure out why. Brown and black areas were different hardness but that was not the issue. Turkish Wave Agate Montana Agate, I had the pleasure of seeing it turn into an Iris Agate as I cut and polished. The greenish hue is from the iris effect. I am trying to figure out how to get a picture that really shows the effect, it is harder than one might think.

I found this agate in Circle T Rock Shop on my Texas trip and thought it fit the contest really well. It would be from Needle Peak. I think I got the effect I was hoping for.

I need to get back. I really do appreciate the group putting together a field trip there, back before Covid.

Possible effects to the electrical grid during a reversal are catastrophic

Would love to go but if I am reading the schedule correctly it is not very collecting friendly with just 2 days during any one week. It's a 1000 miles of driving for 2 days of collecting. Still temped to go. Really thought that when I retired more collecting trips would be on the agenda, unfortunately that has not been the case. Even despite no trips, my chore list around the house is only getting longer. The freak weather this week and AT&T trenching 120 feet across my backyard and thru my garden and rock storage area two weeks ago has set me back even further. Teri Smith has not posted any spring hunts yet, you might be able to coordinate there. Also considering I picked up 85 pounds in 2 hours while snow was coating the rocks.... Day was still worth it even though it was cut short. The camping weekend is primitive camping. Also you might be able to talk to Aaron and get a couple of days added. I picked a weekend in April that had 3 days, 2 on 06 and one on Larremore to return.

fishnpinball is this the newly open to public ranch down in alpine tx? yes it is. For 2 hours of hunting in the snow I was highly impressed by finding that plume agate. I saw several golden moss agates around the same size but only kept one.

I found a road near Lake falcon that was just bulldozed in to a gravel pit, a few miles long and picked lots of nice material from the sides of the road.

Thanks Norman! My father-in-law has gotten me access to a ton of places since you've been up here. Next time you come up, I've got a couple other places to possibly show you. That would be awesome!
