Hi all, I know I have not been around much, and am a total newbie... but can I come? Maybe by then I'll have a tumbler and some idea what is going on! Perhaps if I do come I could scoop you up Dale, if you don't have another way to get there. Even if it's out of the way, I'm sure between all of us we can figure something out... Andrea #2

Thank you so much for taking the time. I finally feel like my head has stopped spinning from reading so many different things and never finding actual info on what I was looking for.
I'm so glad I found you guys!

I may be repeating myself some, but as new auctions have popped up and some are quickly ending just looking for a few more thoughts...
There are 2 TT model T's for right around 50, including shipping (not the tin can ones, nut the newer older one)
A model A with one black barrel (do they support two?) At 50 including shipping currently
And a Loritone QTNR for 70.00 right now, but I can't find Any information about.
Also a Loritone 45c
And a 3A nr1
I know I'm asking a lot of specific to me questions, but trying to figure out what is best is making me (even more) bonkers!
Thanks!

Stop. First of all Jane don't be sorry. You did nothing wrong. This site will help you, in more ways than one. My opinion, buy new. Less worries or hassel if it does go bad.(a used tumbler) I'm sure you will get hooked, then buy used. You know good deals by then. If you have to fight the tumbler to get it to run good, You may lose interest. Thank you everyone, and thank you Spiceman for telling me I don't need to apologize. I have realized I say "Sorry an average of 36 times a day, one day reaching 83. I hate to involve gender, but I know we woman do tend to apologize more often than we should. I do it so often I don't even notice, and I'm trying to work on that, so thank you. There are a couple used and a couple new tumblers I'm looking at, but if the price is really great on a used one I'm not sure I can turn it down. I'm doing some nannying soon, it isn't much but it should be enough to get me a lower priced tumbler. Where should I post some of the used ones I'm looking at to see what you guys think? Would a model T for 55.00 be a good But? Thanks, A

You guys are awesome. Thanks so much. After seeing some of your wire wrapping I think I'll amend my abilities to just rapping... I did win a rap battle to a group if baseball players in college. (Ok, so I might have gone up and taken one of their mic's and said "you guys are butchering this... let me show you how it's done...) But, c'mon, don't do Ice Ice Baby unless you are going to do it right. What can I say, I'm a legend in my own mind. Thanks again! -A (I often go by "A" mostly because I just started signing everything A because the additional 5 letters were just Way too time consuming to type. And it sort of stuck.) PS- I know all the words to "we didn't start the fire and "real slim shady too, so unless you want me to hop up on your stage...

Thanks guys. Yes, I do want to start yesterday;) I will just wait a little longer, I do need to try and keep my cost pretty low. I'm not working right now due to autoimmune disease and migraines. It's very soul sucking to not be able to work when you want to, planned to... so I'm looking for another hobby that can help with my time and give me a sense of community.
Sorry, that was kind of a big unload. Anyway, thanks guys.

All of my prices are including shipping... The model T seems to be a pretty good deal, but now that I say that I realize I have no idea.
There doesn't seem to be any larger ones on eBay right now... well there is one, but it's pretty darn old.
I also want to tumble my jewelry, which I know I'll have to do one at a time.
There is a Loritone 33B for 100.00, but I was hoping to start with something less expensive till I get the hang of it.
So should I do one of the model It's? Or just save up?
Thanks for all your help!

TLDR-how much would you pay for used model T or Loritone 3A
Hi all,
I'd really appreciate some guidance. I have spent the last 3 days and too many hours scouring the internet looking at new and used tumblers. I found a few used (always some risk, of course,) and I'm wondering your thoughts on if you would buy it and how much you think it's worth. I really appreciate the advice bc I'm frusterated and unsure. Here goes...
I found Loritone models 3A, one with grit, rock and spare belt 3A with 4 cans of grit Both between 80 and 90.00
I found a lot of model T, Thumblers Tumblers, I'm looking at the ones that come with the kit, some seem to be in the older box, with all the rocks on the front, and some are in the newer box, the red one. The ranges I have found them for are from 50.00-70.00
Are any of those good deals? Does the box (so, age,) matter? And if so, what would you consider a deal or a dud?
By the time I get the responses they might be gone, but any help would be great.

Beautiful! I'm not sure I have that level of patience in my jewelry... But it looks fantastic.

Are you using "craft" wire? It is generally quite soft and comes in many colors? Those are great for some things, but they do wear over time.
One of my favourite jewelry artist swears by the Vintaj line of wire. I have yet to use it because what I have is copper and brass colored and right now I'm working with silver colored craft wire, just for little projects.
Are you using half hard or dead soft wire? Cheaper wire is typically dead soft.
Apologies if I'm over explaining stuff you already know.
Jewelry Making Journal is a free site run by a fantastic woman who's name I am about to butcher, Rena Klienburger. The forums there are also helpful for specific jewelry questions.

Hi all, I hope this thread ends up in the right place... computer genius I am not. I am Andrea, from Portage, (Kalamazoo, Yes there really is one:)) Michigan. I see I am in good company with fellow Michiganders.
I joined mainly because I'm looking to buy a rock tumbler, used, and am not sure if what I'm looking at will be worthwhile or not. This site has taught me "just say no to Harbor freight rock tumblers!" So I have gotten that far. I'm hoping to post my questions in the right spot soon.
Then, when I'm up and running with my rocks I look forward to learning and sharing with you all!
Andrea Ps- I make wire wrapped jewelry, so I might be able to help out some in that area.
