My guess would be serpentine also. It should scratch with a knife. It does scratch easily w/ a knife. Thanks!

What a beautiful, peaceful, successful (!) place to rockhound! You’ve created some really, really gorgeous art pieces. Seriously. Thank you!

You were right in my home territory. I'm about 45 minutes from Don Pedro. I've got a lot of Mariposite from between Don Pedro and Lake McClure. Looks like you found some nice chunks. I love what you did with the crosses mounted on a rock base. I'm going to have to steal your idea. Well, I guess I can't complain at that since I got the idea by thievery in the first place. I'd love to see what you come up with

Looks like a strawberry daiquiri now. That's a good description. I cut some on my tile saw, everything went instantly red

I've only worked with the Nevada stuff, so I don't know how relevant this is, but I've found some will polish and some won't. Even stuff that came from the same hole on the same day ranged from taking an OK polish to basically chalk. If you've got some of the denser stuff it might do OK - more like polished marble, definitely not like agate forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/1100723/thread

Very nice! Looks like it took a good shine to it. Good idea tumbling it alone, I've had trouble getting obsidian through the process without chipping.

Nice stuff. Too bad about the Chert fractures. That would make some great cabs (all of it would!) Yeah, there are some 1-2 inch sections that might be worth trying. We'll see.
