Some sort of desert jasper? The rock was huge and she asked somebody to break it down.

This batch looks like Indian green and purple something? Most solid color, some translucent.

Those are going to be some amazing tumbles when they get done PS! The "desert jasper" is Polychrome Jasper I believe.

LOL - Speaking of which...your question about the possible "heat treated" pieces appear to be Botswana Agates...and if I'm correct, I'd say they weren't heat treated.

A couple of them looked like Bots...but now that you say Swazi, I have to retract my tentative ID! Good catch!

I went to visit the same creek today. Took pictures of some more huge boulders that are colorful cherts (shown in wet). The surfaces are super fractured. I am wondering if they would look as interesting inside. These boulders are too huge for me to break anyway...

This agate is not my personal find, but in a purchase from KinesavaROCKS. According to the seller, it is Marvy Agate named by the seller's dad. I am afraid tumbling will mess it up. Maybe I should make it a bit smoother and hand polish it?

It looks bright even when dry. I will leave it as is, until I have a better idea. The seller's dad made some cabs from Marvy agate:

I second the Swazi agate id. I bought a few pounds of it last year in Quartzite and many of them ended up being reds/blacks grading into each other exactly like your picture.

Nothing could be happier than a weekend rockhound - from a local seller though Although the piles have been heavily picked I still got some small roughs that would be good for tumble, for a pretty sweet price. Some dendritic & moss material, might not be as hard as jasper. Haven't tested hardness. Some chevon amethyst. Rhyolite, picture jasper, and some petrified wood. I can only recognize rhodonite on the lift. The purple rock has glittering. Looks cool whatever it is.

A nice purple agate. Some sodalite I think. I didn't own any rock of this color until today. Some small agate slab. A nice small end cut. A brecciated jasper. Similar to my beach finds but are bigger and less fractured. Some petrified wood pieces that could be great for tumbling Could this also be petrified wood?
