Well if I thought grinding & polishing the soft shattuckite was fun,
then wire wrapping them with skinny little wire was a riot But I pulled both off - the earrings aren't perfect- but they look like a pretty good match for the pendant.
Thanks for looking,
Patty

Thanks Tela, rockjunquieThe intense color of them makes up for my lack of skill .
I certainly found out what you don't see that many wire wrapped earrings out there !

You did a fabulous job on those earrings, Patty! They go perfect with the pendant.
I've done a few pair of wrapped earrings and they are a total pita.

Patty
Very pretty and I think the match is awesome. What size wire did you use to wrap them? markb

I think it was you that pushed me to prove I could grind those little suckers, so thanks for that I guess I cheated a little - after having my first shattuckite cab break in half coming off the dop stick,
I stabilized the preformed earrings, so I could feel a little less anxious that way, and the epoxy acetone mix doesn't change the look at all.

Thanks markb, I used 24 gauge round wire all around. I unfortunately didn't have any small enough 1/2 round on hand for the bindings (ordered some now), and all I had was soft wire - so I had to harden it some before even trying, as the small soft wire is really soft. Thanks for looking, patty

I don't consider stabilizing soft stones cheating at all. The only no-no for stabilizing is if you sell them without disclosing in my book.

Thanks miketIt's one of those lucky purchases that I just happen to find & buy at a good time from a guy mining it in Mexico. I've been sitting on it for probably 5 years & only recently got the confidence to slab & cab it. Patty

Patty, that's a fantastic set! I like the shape you chose for all three...and way to keep it consistent! Very nice job on the cabs...and the wraps! I've done one set of earrings...for my mother...she said she loved them...I hated the way they looked!! LOL

And Thanks jasoninsd, I was pretty happy with they way they came out. But that small soft wire was a beast .
I'm an earring person, so I'm going to try another set when my small 1/2 round wire shows, that alone should make at least one part easier.
The good part about earrings at least is that they are hung on opposite sides of the head,
so they don't really have to be exact, just complimentary OR exact opposites !
BTW if Mom is happy, then you're doing good, on lots of fronts.
Thanks for the great review- made me smile

Nothin' for nothin'...but that's not saying much. LOL - My mother has a China Hutch with some amazingly beautiful and expensive crystal pieces in the cabinet. And right there in the middle of all that "beauty" is the ugliest clay "vase" (it could barely be called that!) you've ever seen in your life. Yep...8th grade art class! She still has it and still thinks it's "beautiful". So...when my mother says she likes one of my pieces nowadays, my mind still goes back to that vase! LOL
