Kudos to you for trying!! I don't think it's too bad for your first time out with the video.

It's easy to get frustrated, I still do! I find square wire easier to work with but that's just my personal preference. Not bad at all, though- keep at it Ashley, you'll get there.

I would say it was fun trying but I was mostly frustrated! There's honesty for ya! I hear ya on the frustrating part. I've been all the way through several wraps and ripped them apart and had to start all over as I was just frustrated with how the turned out. NOT saying you should do that with this one...the one's I tore apart were after doing a LOT of wraps...and felt they should have been better than what they were. Try not to let it get you frustrated. You shouldn't be apprehensive about putting it down and coming back to it later if it starts getting the better of you. I've had to do that quite a few times when things weren't going how I wanted. You're definitely on the right track as you have the basic ideas down...now they just need a little tweaking. I'm proud of you for "going for it"!!

Looks great, ashley ! Remember, when you watch videos or tutorials they are just a guideline. If you vary somewhat, that's the artist in you starting to come out. Keep at it and that part will come out more and more. *Now, please remember all this and tell me the same thing in my near future!!! markb

jasoninsd Thank you Jason! I will have to scrap this and redo it. Its a hot mess! Going to use square wire the next time. I wasn't suggesting you scrap this one my friend...not at all!! Definitely keep this one for now. Use it to see where you would like to make improvements. There's some cool stuff going on with this one. Believe it or not, the "sporadic waves" adds a kind of cool effect to the wrap! One thing I just realized is you don't have any binding wires along the sides nor at the top right below the bail. Not saying you HAVE to have them...but it helps keep the four wires in alignment as you're bending them around the stone.

I like it! I realize when you look at it you see everything that's wrong, and I may see some of them as well. But I also see a great combo of wire, mostly even bindings on the bail, and nearly all perfect on the bottom. And I see swirls across the front that are graceful and well-placed. I also see a very graceful copper loop at the top. So tuck those under your hat and call them "just right!" As for the rest, be glad you make mistakes--it is how you learn. You're a step ahead in knowing what to do differently or more carefully next time around. My motto is "a mistake is only a mistake if I don't learn from it; if I learn from it is a blessed event." Suffice it to say that there are many, many blessed events in my life.

I really like your pendant, Ashley. Both the bail and the setting have very strong contrasting elements: the bail's tight silver windings have been "captured" by the loose, swirling copper wires, and your freeform "sporadic waves" that seem to have escaped from the very tight, conservative bezel wires.
I see no evidence of any mess-up, although the back of the bail looks a little busy. But so what? The end justifies the means!
