This is after 10 days tin oxide 1, then another 10 days tin oxide 2, and no burnish. Cellphone photos (some low quality). All found in field by me unless noted.

Colorful chert from western Oklahoma. Petrified wood. The large very translucent piece is the first ever found quite like it. Before it was tumbled, it had the rough classic outside surface of pet wood. The piece in the middle with partial black is my first of this type. This came from TX and NM. This came from the CA desert near Barstow. According to a local rockhound, it is largely psilomelane. I have quite a bit of it. Some pieces are highly metallic and some not. Misc. jaspers and some chalcedony. Misc. chert mostly stream chert. The one pinkish one I think was found on road in TX and doesn't get to a high shine--it isn't stream chert. Some red jasper from Lake Superior. Some has metallic flakes in it--they look like might be hematite but I don't know. Some have varying amounts of these flakes from lots to little. The flakey ones are hard to tumble out the pits which keep coming up. Some agates. The translucent one's bands are visible only when held up to a light. Cerro Pedernal chalcedony from NM. Spiderwoman jasper I purchased; somewhat shiny. The one largest piece of yellow jasper that isn't shiny, I found in NM. The others I purchased. Blue tiger's eye, I purchased, hardly ever tumbles well. A small piece of Spider/Fireworks/Starburst "jasper", a rhyolite. Hard to tumble, doesn't shine much. Worked on a large orange-size piece of this for months and gave up and got rid of it. Purchased.

My favs from this batch. Brecciated chert. The very shiny and heavy piece of the psilomelane. Not sure where I found this or whether it is chert or jasper. I found this along the Yangtse River in Wuhan, China. It had a defect that just kept going and 75% at least of its mass was lost in tumbling. The stripe on left goes all the way through and is translucent.

Awesome batch Bob!! You can never go wrong with chert! Some of my chert I keep raw because I love the break pattern of chert and the texture. Love you favorites they would be my favorites too!

The time, effort, and research you 8out into your tumbles really shows! Some of the most fantastic group of rocks I've seen tumbled in awhile. There's a few other members who are tumbling to perfection like this...and it is definitely something to which to aspire!
