I came across this brownish/black rock, didnt think much of it and tossed it aside, well it hit another rock and the whole outside of the rock came off like cracking an egg or candy shell. The shell was brownish/blackish and about 1 inch thick, but the inside of the rock is almost brick red to redish brown. A penny doesnt scratch it, It will scratch glass, A 1095 Carbon Steel Knife did scratch a gouge in it. Doesnt react to acid. I dont have a streak plate so I cant say what the color streak is. The rock inside feels mostly smooth, somewhere between waxy with a slight corseness to it, feels almost like 1000 AO Rock tumbling powder.

rockhobbyguy: I am very heartbroken to hear Lortone is going out of business. My motor on my 45c just went out and needs to be replaced. Since theses are now seemingly unavailable for good, does anyone know of another brand of motor that would work with a Lortone 45c.
