Mark K is foxtail, don't know if that other Mark is still active here. It sure was fun hearing about your adventures, Mark. A lot of it was right in my back yard, I appreciate the chunk of Table Mesa and the Brenda material. I think Elizabeth went about halfway down that drum of Ocean Wave that Tony has, got some nice pieces that will hit the saw soon. I met up with Alva at the PowWow, he's the guy who put in the Burro Creek case and wagonmaster for the Q club, and also a NW snowbird I've known for years. He gave me some info on Burro Creek sites they go to, I'll be scouting around up there later this spring with my notes. Overall, even though it was only a day, this was definitely a very enjoyable time.

I got home today around noon.
I need to talk to Tim who rebuilt all of those saws.
Is he around these parts?

Quartzilla, is that chrysoprase from the Taiwanese lady who had all those rocks sorted out on the ground at Desert Gardens?

Alright for those who didn’t make it here are some pics of various stuff we saw at The Pow Wow and Desert Gardens. [img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/dxhpvzoz2/image/upload/v1674399754/v0dwsx6i7mzposreazcw.jpg" alt=" "] The BBQ Friday night was really a blast. Lee Rockoonz it was nice seeing you and the wife again and bonus points to you for bringing Taco. Also great seeing both Russ and Diane and purchasing some goodies from them, looking forward to cutting the pastelite! 1Mark K it was a pleasure meeting you and thank you for the huge chunk of Table Mesa Jasper! Another piece I’m looking forward to seeing what’s inside it. Kudos to you for giving everybody a rock that was a great idea and now I want to bring stuff I found next year! Bob and Walter also was wonderful meeting you guys, thanks for making the long trip from OK and I hope your hunts in the AZ desert proved fruitful. Tyler goldfinder also a pleasure to meet you and your wife. Your dedication to “the hunt” is very impressive and the material you showed us was gorgeous and I think I speak for everyone there when I say we can’t wait to see what else you start pulling out of the ground up there. And the biggest thanks goes to Tony catmandewe for hosting all us rocknuts and cooking a gang of hamburgers, hotdogs, and sharing the delicious stew. Also thanks for the great rough we bought from you too, wifey and I spent a long time going thru all your stuff and we definitely pulled out some sweet goodies! Overall I think our trip this year was the best yet and the added pleasure of hanging out at Tony’s and talking shop was the icing on the cake. Hopefully we can do this next year with all of you guys and even more! Thanks quartzilla! It was really great to meet you and everyone else at the BBQ, we truly had an excellent time! It was fun to meet fellow RTHers that spoke the same "rock language" lol. We look forward to seeing y'all again sometime! We were definitely grateful that the material from the new diggins was met with such a warm welcome from everyone at the BBQ. It was the first time anyone else had seen it and we were unsure what sort of interest there would be. We sincerely appreciate the wise guidance, support and excitement from everyone! Thanks again Tony for hosting the BBQ, it was a blast! I can't wait to start slicing those awesome Piranha Agates we picked up from you! I got one cutting on the saw right now lol.

Quartzilla, is that chrysoprase from the Taiwanese lady who had all those rocks sorted out on the ground at Desert Gardens? Bob the large one was. The smaller higher quality ones were from The Ausies about 2 or 3 aisles back and to the right.

Thanks for the show quartzilla , having never been to a big rock show, it was interesting to see the heaps of it to choose from. Would have to be a sensory and wallet overload. Looks like a good loot pile, but I LOVE the turtle in the geode Now that one was worth going for

quartzilla - I thought it looked like you spent some time at the Aussie booth. Did I see some dendritic opal there in your pics?
A nice variety of rough and slabs there! Looked like one photo of brecciated (light brown colors) Burro Creek. If so, that polishes up really well.
I'm curious about the thunder eggs. I still haven't learned enough to ID them very well.

If you want to start a thread in the saws and slabs forum anf tag me and Tony catmandewe I think we can answer any FranTom saw question you can come up with. Besides, I would love to see more detailed pics anyway, it looked nice in your pickup.

Quartzilla, that 10th photo you posted of that jasper that is orange/gray/tan just blew my mind. Wow that is gorgeous. Had I seen it there, I would have bought some. Does it have a name? I think if I discovered that I would have named it Warpaint jasper. Or Darth Maul jasper.

Quartzilla when you said my forum image was of me posing with a rock pick on a mountain, I figured you got me confused with someone else. I just now noticed how it does look like that! But I didn't have a rock pick, that's just my loose belt end sticking out. That was taken in the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma, though no rockhounding is allowed there.
I thought I was pretty energetic as to rockhounding, but man sitting between you and Mark and hearing just some of your stories made me fell pretty tame.

MarkK, thanks again for guiding Walter and me to that Brenda jasper spot. On Sat, we went to a place near Chuckwalla Wells in CA for jasper but found hardly anything. On the way out, we at one point slowed down and while still driving 20mph Walter saw something "glowing" in the dirt side of the road. It was a gorgeous piece of white agate, about baseball size, very similar to blue lace agate but more ghostly white. I've never seen anything like it before. In my opinion it was the best rock found by any of us on the field work. He said he would send you an image.

Good eye. Yes dendritic from the Ausies, the brecciated slab i got from drocknut I think your right on that ID too. The eggs I got from a guy who owns claims in Oregon the uncuts are from 79 Beds and I believe the dark one is too. I started out keeping track of everything I bought in my phone but soon lost track with so many different dealers. The big green and red slab is from Idaho but I am brain farting on that it is. There are also Surprise Mine slabs in there I got from the mine owner which also came from Idaho. There is a Cady’s slab in there also.

I enjoyed your stories too especially the dilemma last year of how you were torn on whether to go or not go without Walter and also how you surprised the gal with the big piles by speaking Mandarin to her. Your warpaint jasper I got from Tony right there where tha bbq was. Dug them out of one of the 55 gal drums. Again I’m brain farting on exactly what that material is called.

quartzilla Wow, that first geode with the star. Very cool. 👍 khara that was purchased from a European gentleman and was the single most costly piece and my wife bought it for me🥰. He said it was from Germany from a spot that you cannot dig in anymore and was actually dug up some time in the 90’s. I really wish I’d been more thoughtful and kept track of every piece/location we picked up.

The "warpaint" may be red and green blanket from Peru. The cut egg with the waterline star is most likely from Richardsons egg beds north of Madras OR, I found a few similar ones when the beds were open.
