How did I know that was a jamesp thread without even looking? He once sent me some coral "condos," cut open on the front side, some botryoidals, and coral to make cabs with. Also some of his TIGed SS jewelry. He called it "venereal warts," lol. 😆 jamesp - I misremembered about the chunk of ss jewelry bit you sent to me. They were plasma torch doings, and you called them "Plasma torch mutations." It was the coral condos you called "Petrified Venereal Warts." An inverted shot of the photo above, taken in my yard. Notice snippet of dog foot between my thumb and forefinger? That would be the back of Lucy's rear foot. She was always nearby anytime I was in the yard. Or in the house, anywhere for that matter. Didn't run across any photos of the botryoidal corals, will post them if I see them. There are actually several of "the real deal" on my dresser, but in order to take a decent photo, I'd have to knock the protective coating of dust off them first, lol Edit to add - This is how he wrapped them, and his comments: And yes, he did send me some dog hairs, lol. But I'm not complaining! At the time, I owned several shedding dogs!

jamespLol, your funny James! Perhaps we do from our husbands! But I would say it goes in seasons and depends on your guys temperament. Now with 5 kids who are with me 24/7 I just want to be left alone and have some peace and quiet from everyone. When they are older and gone I’m sure I will pester the husband for his attention more. Also if he is irritable and ornery I like my space lol!

Ha - the seasons of tolerance ! The youthful season was great. And the older more mature season is peaceful. Sounds like you guys added the season of having kids. That should be the most rewarding. As long as there is love in all seasons all will work out. Looking forward to the eternal season at this point !

What a masterpiece by the nature As if nature has provided unique and amazing treasures for us to find pebblesky. The pseudo morphed corals are difficult to recognize just by looking at them. They usually occur in specific type of concrete-like clay and have a tiny whiskey colored BB bead like surface. Most candidates are sawn only to find the rock is solid unless a colony is found that results in predominantly pseudo morphed specimens. Game is on when a colony is located. Due to the concrete-like clay it must have taken 100 hours to pry out about 50 pseudomorphs in one big colony. This is a common example of a specimen that has all the surface characteristics of a pseudomorph but was dead solid. So the bottom is the root. The top is the sunny side. The radial patterns are the coral structure is completely filled with silica. Coral tubes start at the root and radiate outward to the sunny side. The coral structure is almost completely replaced by silica and hardly visible unfortunately. This little head is about 7 inches across, some are 3 to 4 feet across looking like large brains.

My Aarp letters started arriving at least 5 years later he he. Gotta tease the Jean Machine...Back then you had Lucy and another dog if memory serves. It was a time prior to political correctness coming of age, remember that ? By the way, it is the coldest day today, 32F this morning. House is freezing, gonna die. Every year of recent I say I am going deer hunting until I wake up to the cold. Getting soft in old age Jean. Had to move a bunch of fire pits yesterday, nursing a bottle of Advil this morning. At least we have the gift of Medicare and not spending a fortune on health insurance ! The wart and disease theme jewelry sold well at the collective downtown. The Sci Fi, Gothic and some other inscrutable sects wearing black lipstick and nail polish bought them. I wasn't asking questions, just selling jewelry to a very interesting clan of folks. What is that big Sci Fi bunch(monster con ?) Those guys still have large organized events across the country. As far as the plasma jewelry these became good sellers. Easy to make the copper part. Just take a long strip of copper and plasma cut the edges away at an angle. Then cut them into pendant size lengths and solder them to a hammered bezel. The high heat made decent patinas.

Good morning, James. Sorry to hear you are nursing a bottle of Advil. When I move stuff around, I don't get sore, I just get dirty, lol. I spent a good part of yesterday searching for a stinking dead rat on the patio, among the boxes and buckets of rocks. The neighbors behind us have an infestation, and every so often, they'll put out poison. They've given their charges instructions to come visit me to die. But I did find it. Not as big as the last one I found, which I only found the back half of. I still get junk mail from AARP, have no intentions of joining, though. Wonder if they'll ever quit sending it? Still get junk mail for my late MIL, who never actually lived here. Her name got attached to our address when we probated her estate, ten plus years ago. We've been dogless for several years now. Due to health reasons, Lucy only lived to be nine. Two other recent dogs were Spunky and Cricket. Before them, Minnie, Shadow, Timka. Being pet less is an adjustment, but thankfully I'm not having to buy dog food or paying vet bills. And I only get dog hair when people send it to me, lol. Here, the Sci-fi, Goths and Steampunks go to Comic Con. That is their Mecca. I've never been, not interested. So you just had your coldest day, freezing. Yesterday was warm here, but today will be hotter. The Weather guessers are calling for 94 degrees. Delayed summer in San Diego. Try to rest up, James, and let your old body heal for a few days.

That rat issue would be a problem rockpickerforever. The neighbor poisons and the rodents visit you to die ? That would make it difficult for you guys to own cats or dogs due to the risk of one of them getting poisoned by eating a dying/dead poisoned rodent ! That is not a good situation, a total loss of security that your pet wouldn't get poisoned. Are you expected to install a rodent free fence ? That would not be easy to do. That is an awkward situation at best. I get the problem. When the dogs killed our cats the mice moved in. Nothing but rodent problems after that. We hired a contractor, he put out traps, somehow a squirrel got in the trap and and got free. Sure nuff Pipa caught/ate half the squirrel and was bleeding out when she crapped. She still has occasional bleeding episodes.grrr Yep, time to turn on the heat, house was 60F this morn. 30F outside. Sister looked great. She is 3 years older. She's a socialite, always has been. Made the wrong choice in friends for her first 50 years. She put Dad and later me in danger having to go rescue her from her abusive boyfriends. That is a bad service call. She finally learned some lessons. I get ya on those dogs. They are demanding on most lifestyles. I'd entertain a break but the boss wouldn't have it. Now that cold weather has come the short hairs have to curl up on top of Dad. That can account for many bodily aches in itself lol. I figured Lucy was your last. A note on Sarracenia, I'm a member of a Pro Board Sarracenia forum. They are a bit confused by the breed parentage of these plants. None of them are likely pure since they cross so much. Those guys sell some 'named/known parentage'(not) hybrids for over $500 each ! Most of the fanciest breedstock they sell comes from the Wilkerson farm down in the panhandle of Florida. My buddy Brooks found that stand of plants and got permission to collect from them and carry on a hybridizing program that created most of the finest breedstock. Since then that forum has stolen most of his work and made false parentage claims. Brooks is a trust fund kid, needs no money, he should have never released one of his plants or secrets and just posted his beauties on that forum and made them beg lol. Most of the 'top' sellers live out west and don't have a clue about the reality of how this plant behaves but they do have their clients fooled. I joined that forum and noticed what was going on. Amusing to watch the fiasco.
