@msali. I rarely use it, but it was helpful when I did. I mainly use the mini-butane Blazer, or the bigger crème-brûlée torch. I need to replace my butane and have always been interested in the ORCA. I found one that is a decent price, but not sure if it's worth getting

If you need something bigger/hotter, Orca is one answer. Glad I have it. Home Depot sells smaller propane tanks. I like those as well.

Pat What would be something you'd use it for vs. just using the butane?

I’d need propane for bigger items like cuff bracelets, or softening pieces to put through the rolling mill.

I love the idea of using the small propane

Propane is ok but oxyacetylene is much hotter. I’ve had some pretty big fireballs from loose connections on oxyacetylene torches. The propane forge gets metal orange hot easily but if I need something really hot, break out the oa torch.

I use an orca torch, I have never had any problems, I have had mine for a year or two and the hose has been just fine, I have had to clean the torch tips a few times. That’s not the first time I have heard that, I am sure at some point there was a bad batch or something. I used a small butane torch until it wasn’t enough to do everything I wanted to do. The orca can easily heat up a heavier gauge cuff bracelet.
