What I'm most delighted to share is that two of the rocks I picked up on sheer instinct that they felt heavier than they should. I was getting good practice at this recently on a trip to the Keweenaw rockhounding for copper. Anyway when I got home I discovered that these two heavy stones are magnetic! The first magnetic stones I've found in the wild. They're both different, can't wait to take them to my local club to get an ID.What did they turn out to be ?

Did you go to the Seaman Museum in Houghton, MI while you were Up Nort ? It's has a really awesome collection of gems and minerals !!!! There is a MichiganGuy YouTube Video about it that is well worth watching.
Off to the beach now .. wish me luck. The weather has turned icky but ... oh well !

Thanks for the welcomes! I had a great day at the drumlin. I'm getting better about sniffing out the public lands and finding secret spots. This was a very quiet and serene hill. It was interesting, looking from the satellite view the drumlin is ringed like a bullseye with forest, prairie, forest, then prairie at the summit. Everything in the prairie was completely overgrown and hidden under the tall grasses. I had some luck on the forest edges, particularly around an apparent hunter's camp. Stones arranged in a circle with a small stone fire ring. I wonder how long ago it was made. I found lots of chert chips around the camp. One chunk is particularly beautiful and made the whole journey worthwhile. Someday I'll figure out pics but my photography skills aren't great anyway. They're both different, can't wait to take them to my local club to get an ID. Did you try a streak test on therm yet? That often tells you immediately what they are.
Any bubbles in them?
