Oh MY!!! You have done a beautiful job- for your first or 20th. Sounds like the stars really lined up for you.
I think the patina looks fine and the beads are a beautiful addition. I like the green with it.
Well done! You're on your way.

That's a really sharp wrap Khara. I like the color combo and the compact design of the wrap. Good job!

Wow! That's a beautiful wrap! As Tela said, that looks great as your 20th wrap. I can't tell that the top is crooked. The whole thing looks symmetrical from side to side and your curves are graceful and clean. I struggle with that. Plus, you've got twisted and coiled in your first wrap, Nice!

Wow, khara ! That is a really impressive first wrap! The copper wire and the beads complement the colors of the rock so well!

You did a fantastic job on your first wrap! Your wires look pretty tight, so I bet your stone is more secure than you think. Great job!

You definitely get a comment of: "SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!" That is fan-freakin-tastic! Seriously! I am SO impressed with this! Everything is clean...your lines, your bends, the design. Great "recovery" with the addition of the beads! I don't see a single tool mark...which for your first wrap, is unreal! Way to freakin' go!!! A couple hints: I know what you're saying about being concerned the stone isn't secure. Like Robin said, it's probably more secure than you think, but I bet you can feel the cab "wiggle" at the top. One thing you can do with this design is "cheat" the backside. Right where the cab and the wire meet - right where the "open" space begins, you can bend that wire inward - like you did at the bottom. Just make sure the securing wire you're bending goes back to that center bezel wire behind the cab, so it matches back up as it's going up to the bail. (I hope that makes sense!) This will keep it secure from wanting to wiggle backward. In order to secure the front on this design, if you were to have brought that wire with the beads on it down just a little lower so it goes just over the top of the cab, that would actually be enough. This really adds security to keep the top of the cab and will keep it from wanting to wiggle forward. I have to stress again how SO impressed I am with your wrap!! Definitely give yourself a pat on that back...you really do deserve it!

jasoninsd OK, so I went ahead and did it. I bent the top in ever so slightly both on the back and front. The back alone wasn't quite cutting it. I see what you mean about bringing the beaded area down to help support the front. That's a good idea. It is definitely more stable now. I can spin the stone but not rock it which I like better. The only pliers I had that I could fit into the small space are some chain nose ones. I sanded them to knock off the sharp edges and also covered them with tape before doing these bends but I still marred the soft copper so now I'll go in and gently try to sand those areas and blend the patina/sanded areas. I had been thinking of doing this and probably would have anyway and was expecting some marring in the patina, just needed to get used to the risk first. I'm still figuring out where to grab and which way to twist to get the bend I want so yesterday I wasn't ready to go for it. I'm thinking about maybe ordering some of those super skinny Xuron flat nose pliers or those parallel pliers that you all have talked about in other threads. It was hard to get into that narrow space. I kept slipping off the wire which is what marred it. Oh, also it didn't negatively impact the look which I was a little worried about. I kind of liked the negative space created by the wires leaving the round stone and going up to the bail and thought if I bent them in that would be lost but it actually looks just fine. Oh, that's another reason I decided to bend the front too, once I bent the back ones they were visible from the front. Anyway... thanks for your input!! I am looking forward to seeing more from you. I keep looking back at those latest wraps you did for brybry. Holly cow, still trying to decide my fave.

rockjunquie I love your wraps! You are clearly quite skilled and practiced at this. I kind of wish your website was still up and just showed all your wraps listed as sold, kind of like Sam Silverhawk has left his. Just being able to peruse the collection would be really fun. Or maybe there's a way on here to just see someone's posted images only? Internet search works fairly well, but I'm sure I'm missing some of them!! :-)

I have a few things put together at photobucket. I'll be letting my membership lapse in Feb.

khara - I should have taken a picture earlier to show what I was talking about on the back. A little late, but here's what I was trying to describe...

jasoninsd Thank you. I read it a few times and pretty sure I got the gist. I did a super-duper small bend but it improved it quite a bit. My sanding to remove the added scratches didn't affect the patina too bad. Probably only I notice it. :-)

I'm late for the celebration party khara, but will just add in, "Way to go !" Looks terrific. I wish my first wrap had looked that clean & nice.
Better get those small nose pliers on your Christmas wish list !

liveoak Thanks so much Patty. I will say your attention to detail and organization has caught my eye more than once! I really appreciate how clear and detailed your instruction posts always are! Thank you khara, that was kind.
I for one hate 1/2 ass-ed instructions that don't include the vital info, so I try very hard to make sure mine do. Nice to know someone noticed .
