And I thought it was chilly here in Arizona. It's 55 degrees right now and I'm feeling chilly. I survived -15 in Montana I think it was 2015 but now if it gets below 60 I'm putting on more clothes and breaking out the hot cocoa...LOL. Glad I'm not up north. ' You don't have to go that far north to get cold. 36 here right now with a low of 19.

It's absolutely amazing how far this system is not only stretching from west to east, but how far south the cold is reaching... I know up here we're supposed to be "used to" this kind of weather in the winter...but I don't think I've every gotten used to it! LOL And y'all live in the south to AVOID this kind of weather...and it still finds a way to creep down there and get to you guys too!

I think Robin's autocorrect might have kicked in on her post - or it would've probably read "prickly" personality.

Yeah...the temps are below zero at night right now...but Wednesday is supposed to be a high of 7 below and we're supposed to get another 3" of snow along with 45-60mph winds...so wind chills are going to be around 50 below. Three inches of snow doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm sure you know the wind is going to create huge drifts even with 3"! I hope you've got the hatches battened down and you're ready for the cold snap you guys have comin'. Do you have buckets of water inside the house in case the power goes out?

Or will be feeling it in a couple of days. Will probably be filling all heated water containers for animals tomorrow. I don't have a generator, but it is on my wish list. Just to keep animal water from freezing. I usually fill about 5 gallon containers with water, just in case in these situations. For me to have inside. I fill several thermoses with coffee, too. The road I travel to work is bordered by a lot of farm fields. Some have snow fences. Even with the snow fences, drifts on the road can be over 2' in places with only a couple inches of snow when there are high winds. Last year, I was at work during what was later called a blizzard. Driving into work was fine. Then we got 3-4" of snow and winds of up to 30 MPH. I was slowly driving through some 2' snow drifts on my way home. Finally caught up to the snow plow and traveled at a safe distance behind. Some idiots decided to pass me and tailgate the snow plow. I loved what the driver did. They pulled to the side of road and stopped. The idiots passed them. I waited for the snow plow to get back on the road. When I put my turn signals on to turn into my driveway, the driver thanked me by hitting the brakes twice. That is the SOP for snow plow drivers here to thank someone for driving safely behind them. I am scheduled to work Thursday through Saturday this week, so hope the roads are not too bad. There is no one left to work for me. I am even working solo one night when we usually have 2 people. Hope this bad weather system is less than predicted.

I hope you guys don't get hammered, either. My sister (in the Chicago area) was telling me they're going to be in low single digits and below zero wind chills. She said their forecast for Saturday was 13" of snow. I hope the weather guessers are wrong.

FYI, for those who do not know, I am a NWS Storm Spotter, so I usually get lots of info ahead of predicted storms. This was something on my bucket list for many years. Have been doing it for about 5 years. I love all the online classes I can take and helping others.

Brrrrr It's -14 here right now...and the winds are already blowing...and they're just supposed to get stronger as the day goes on. So, we're going to see wind chills in the same range as you guys. Like Tela said, my heart goes out to the animals right now. I just went out to the garage. I paused for a few seconds to listen to the sounds of the trees straining in the cold and the wind. Problem is, I absentmindedly held onto the door knob while I paused. My fingers were burning (freezing) within seconds. Good thing I didn't lick it! LOL

Just got an email from boss lady. She is really hoping I can make it in to work today. I have to let her know by 9, if the roads will be good enough for me to make it to work by 12:30. That could be a challenge.
