I mentioned the cab that has been sitting around on my table. This is it. I had planned to wrap it a long time ago. I couldn't figure out what to do with it, so I put it in my cab shop for cheap and it never sold. I always wondered why cause it's a great stone, IMO.
I traced it and came up with an idea- that I didn't like, so I did this off the cuff. No looking back. It's done. Fireworks obsidian

"It's done." I get it. It's a pretty cab. The long, ball-ended wire on the right is a counterbalance to the pretty red/white flowery line. I'm curious, was that line centered on your preform, but it moved as you cut the dome?

Thanks. I cut it like that. For a long time, I was hung up on centering everything. Now, I don't. |

I definitely prefer it "uncentered" with the side balancing it out. It adds a quirky interest. I also *really* like your loop attaching the bail, and the counter-balance at the bottom. Overall, 100%!

I don't mean this in a snide, off-the-cuff way...it totally reminds me of a slot machine! Which to me, means it's a winner!!  I like what you did with the bail also.  |

Thank you, Susan. Making the change to uncentered was tough, but I started to switch because of learning how to crop family pictures effectively. I started to see things differently. Too funny, Tom always pushes me to be asymmetrical - as I'm the picture in the center of the table type.
So I'm constantly pushing myself to think that way.
The pattern in the stone , with the balanced silver rod works nicely.
And I totally agree with aDave, there's a Japanese painting inspiration there. Which in my opinion is a high compliment BTW.
OMG but I can't forget to thank you for showing the back.
Heck if I've done nothing, at least I have people conscious of showing that detail.

Thanks for your thoughts, Patty. Yes, beating that symmetry thing is tough. I think somewhere in my childhood it was drummed into my head and it's been hard to chase it out. It's the biggest reason why I can't do what I call "messy" wraps. I don't know what else to call them, but they are freestyle and not in any way symmetrical.
Hopefully, you'll get a package today and I'll be posting another wrap or two. Dang, woman, you're on a roll! Another beauty! I love that cab. Thanks! Yeah, I guess I am on a roll. LOL! While I'm in the mood, I'll go with it. I have one ready for LOS and getting ready to start some more. |
