Hi everyone! This past weekend I had a super lucky day in Stinson Beach, CA! So, I finally got my cloudinary account set up! I couldn't NOT share with you all! Because of the recent storms (which did a ton of damage), my walk on the beach was beyond my wildest dreams! So many oil agates and plenty that were bigger that I've ever seen. So I brought a bunch home to tumble. Then I got a real surprise! Here are the pics (pic quality is super lacking): Here they are dry under normal basement light. And here they are with some light behind them. And then I got an idea....why not see if they have any fluorescence? And in the barrel!! Can't wait to see how these turn out! I kept plenty to the side for future projects. Thanks for looking! Happy Friday! Jenny

Very interesting! Look forward to seeing them tumbled. I haven't run across anything that fluoresces for me yet..

I can see why you're so excited. Looks like you hit the jackpot alright! So cool that they fluoresce, too. AND, I learned something new. I've never heard of oil agates, so thanks for sharing!

Very interesting. FYI if you google California Oil Agates this post comes up like 3 or 4th. Not a super common agate I guess.

Not a super common agate I guess. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/12510/first-tumbled-batchFrom 16 years ago: Nice Batch- Big green egg-hmmm Serpintine (pretty soft for tumbling however) or Jade (a bugger to shine in the tumbler IMHO) And what is oil agate?? stefan - I just saw that when I was searching around and had to chuckle. I was searching around the forum for Oil Agate as I'd run across someone talking about them, but can't remember where I found it. I still can't find the reference I was thinking of...

Anyone looking for a super niche topic and even niche-er market should jump on this opportunity!! You might just change the landscape of oil agates! RTH...changing the world one post at a time. 😸

It's like dejavu! Set your alarms for 2039 and we will see if the pattern continues. 2039??? Wtf? That just sounds crazy.
