I am cutting this brazilian agate and I notice that it has everything that it needs to have iris. So I cut a slice 2 turns thick. I am impressed with how beautiful it is. Can't see any iris. I cut a couple more. (now I have one missing) I decided that 3 turns would be better because 2 is so thin as to be overly fragile. Hopefully there will be some sun after work tomorrow. If I find iris, you will see pics of it.

I cut a lot of iris. 1/16 to 1/8 is the sweet spot

To examine for iris, wet the slab with clean oil instead of water, works better for iris. If you find it a good polish on both sides is needed for displaying, my friend gary who specialized in Montana Iris agate would make backlit display frames for his treasures.
