Last week on a stroll through a local thrift shop, I found a glass vase filled with some very interesting rocks: After examining the rocks, I discarded many and kept the ones in the pictures: These rocks had been previously tumbled by someone with limited knowledge and moved through the stages despite the many obvious flaws: I filled (2) three barrel tumblers with 80 grit and ran it for 3 days; these are the results (Wet pictures): They were looking good, but still needed more time in the 80 grit:
I started out in the hobby four months ago and thanks to the fine folks on RTH I can now, with a high degree of confidence tell the difference between an agate and a jasper ..

Looks like a bunch of granite, banded xiron, quartz and jaspers.

Be sure to clean anything with pits between stages. I saw a couple that have them.

I would get rid of this one: The pink one with the cross on it is awesome! No clue what it is, but I really like it.

He found them already tumbled so may be too late for him to clean out the grit The rocks are actually shaping up very nicely with one exception that does have some deep pockets. Judging from the improvement from a 3 day run in 80 grit most flaws were either gone or mitigated and they're still in a second 3 day run in 80: Tnx...
