So my MT-4 HS been making a loud noise for years. When I first noticed it I tightened down the extension spring and noise quieted down. Try and use it now on full speed and the noise is just too loud (no matter it on a rubber pad or not). Something clearly isn't operating properly.
Has anyone used one of the tune up kits? Just wondering if I replace the innards if it would correct this issue. Thanks

I did. I could not reassemble it properly and it is now more quiet but the unit has lost power. I need to take it apart again and start over.

I did my own tune up on mine, and messed up the vibrations pretty severely. I can't get it back to where the stones move properly, so it's definitely some fine adjustment, but I couldn't get it to go right even after several adjustments. It is 40 years old, so that might explain some of it though...

Ugh, both of these comments don't put me at ease as there are a lot of parts with that tune-up kit

I have a new mini sonic. I know the noise you hear. Mine only makes it if I overfill the barrel or when a load starts off unbalanced (usually after 15 minutes the load self balances). I overloaded this weekend and it was literally 3 rocks over the limit. I took out a rock at a time until the noise disappeared. I usually don't run mine wide open anyways as I think it is a little violent.

I usually don't run mine wide open anyways as I think it is a little violent. The barrel load doesn't matter on the noise. The only bad thing is it's not running at the speed I want when cranked up all the way. If it was just the noise I'd try and ignore it and move on but the tumbling spend has reduced dramatically when high speed. Years ago I used to be able to put pressure on top of the hopper and it would work just fine (so I tightened that spring and worked like a charm). Now the same process doesn't work
