Ok got it. Thanks! I did not realize those were Botswana agate. I got them through Amazon as just ‘generic agate’. I wasn’t real happy because they ended up being trimmed corner pieces instead of the whole rocks, as pictured in the ad, and most of them were pretty cruddy. I returned them but accidentally kept two, as seen here. I don’t get rocks off of Amazon anymore lol. I tried a few times with mixed results so I switched to Etsy. I’ve had much better luck with them. When we went to a Nature’s Treasures in Austin for the first time they had two good bots that I picked up. Trying to decide if I want to cut them into mini slabs or tumble them whole. I also got some fire agate that I’m excited to begin tumbling soon. A lot of folks on the forum get some of their tumbling rough from The Rock Shed. I believe they have Bots for tumbling, but I know for sure they Bahia Agates. I’ve heard of the rock shed and plan to try them before long. Bahia agate…I’ve heard of those but never seen them. Time to hit the Google button lol

I've cut a bunch of Botswana Agates into slabs in order to make cabs. I haven't made any for awhile...might have to go digging for my stash now that it's been brought up! LOL

As with everything I do, i go by the memory which builds up by doing something repetively. So far so good lol. However, once I peg something with this hobby, I’ll jot it down for the first time ever. My wife got my a beautiful leather journal with an embossed compass on it for this reason. I’m thinking that’s a big hint from her lol.

I’ve loved the compass rose much of my life. I even designed one using a mountain bike chain ring for a tattoo on my calf 15 years back, when I was a cyclist.

I’ve spent months and months working on these! Some close ups of the misc rocks from before and a bunch of one of my favorite things to do, mini slabs of petrified wood and a few agates. We have 1 pound each of Bahia and Botswana agate tumbling in the double rotary and a whole bunch more of the mini slabs in the vibe. We have a new rotary tumbler arriving tomorrow and I can’t wait to load and launch!

I like the way it’s overbuilt, easily replaceable bearings and a dang good warranty. The barrel is huge but we have a couple hundred pounds of rock…
