My wife came by the Craft Show this past weekend and took a few pictures of my booth with the setup. The booth is on a corner however the two adjacent booths block the view just a bit. I think I may have lucked into the prime booth location for next year. Sales at the show were exactly like the Sales back in March at the Clear lake Gem and Mineral Show, down about 50%. Several factors probably contributed with the biggest being the economy, less spending money out there. It was warm on Sat and it going a bit uncomfortable in the buildings. The person in the what I consider to be the prime booth got fed up with the heat and left Sat night, leaving her space open for Sunday. Long story short I approached the Show director about taking that space next year and she said it should be ok, time will tell. One good thing about these High School sponsored Shows, they always have students on hand for breakdown/loading. Two boys came by with a big cart and in two trips we had the truck loaded. I gave them each a cut and polished Choya Geode pair. Here are the pictures, not sure who the old gray haired guy is who wandered into my pictures!! Need to spend some time re-arranging my packing and changing the mix of items. Henry

Great looking set-up Henry! You're lucky there were young men around to help with the loading after the show. That sure is a nice perk!

Your set up looks great Henry. And, you have great prices! I would definitely buy a bunch of stuff off you if I saw your set up at a market!

Thanks for the nice comments. A few extra thoughts; Having the students help was great, they could not really help me pack items up as they would be hard pressed to understand the method to the madness that is my packing system. My system does need work and it's on "the list" to improve it. One thing I try and consider is the different clientele at Craft Shows and at Rock Shows. Potentially address this with some modifications to my packing system. Also easier to sell more expensive specimens at a Gem and mineral Show as opposed to a Craft Show. Craft Show shoppers are going for pretty as opposed to being valuable or rare. That polished piece of Biggs Jasper may not move the average Craft Show shopper. Of course the most expensive item I have sold to date was a nice Quartz cluster I had out at a Craft Show as an attention getter. The lady saw it and within a few seconds, "I will take it, my husband will just love this in his office". My garage is a mess with items scattered left and right. I have been attempting to emulate Drummond Island Rocks 's organized shop and storage, all I get is a headache!! Another summer project for "the list". "And my wife just told me we(a contractor) are going to be re-carpeting the upstairs and re-painting upstairs and downstairs!! And painting all the house and garage exterior. 33 years of accumulation, should be too much of an issue!! My back is already hurting!!

I like your set up too! And, on a side note, your garage and my garage are probably related.

HankRocks - I'm not sure ANYONE could get their shop to look like Chuck's shop!! (I tell myself that to make myself feel better since I KNOW I'll never get my work area to look like his! LOL)

I've lived in a world of "going to do," and will probably die that way.
