stardiamond Great looking cabs! hmm, I noticed you left a fair amount of material beyond the black shape marking. I have a few stones I had cut out on my trim saw and I cut right up to the outside of the line. So, I guess this mean mine will be much smaller than what I originally wanted?

My precision when using the trim saw is not perfect. I draw on top for the design, trim and then redraw on the reverse using a finer marker. I can move the template around in case I cut too close to the line or see a problem, vug or fracture. I grind from the reverse. I see top cabbers grind from the top but that would be more than challenging for me. I am self taught and developed my own technique. I grind the preform and the edge flares out to the top. I mark the girdle line and dome. I then grind the edge square rotating the edge vertically. The bottom is protected and so is the face.
