Most of this has been tumbling for about 3 months now in coarse. I am looking for some advice on tumbling them for longer and if it would expose more banding. I've never tumbled bots before and they were quite a bit more expensive than I am normally wanting to pay, so I'm taking extra care to try and get them as good as I can. I've currently removed them all from the tumbler and am touching some of them up using my Dremel. It's very slow going, but it's the only tool I have. For these rocks in particular, I feel like it's worth the time investment.
This is rock #1. I really don't want to run it through coarse anymore because I don't want to lose anymore of the front face. I am interested in knowing if I were to grind the white parts down if more banding would be visible. I'm especially curious about where the banding wraps around the side and onto the back that you can see in the pictures. I've already worked on it quite a bit with the Dremel.
This is rock #2. When wet, you can see a lot of bands just under the surface. Not sure if they would come out more if tumbled longer. If not, then I plan on grinding out the bad spots with the Dremel. When it's dry, the bands are barely visible.
This is rock #3. This one is turning out to be my favorite. Curious what people think about the white spot right in the middle of the banding, as well as the edges. I'm slightly concerned about the fracture that goes all the way through it, but it's almost entirely smooth so it might not be anything to worry about. I've already worked on this one some with the Dremel and it'll probably get a few more runs through coarse regardless. It's got some super fine bands along the edge that are so close together it shimmers like chatoyancy. I didn't really show it in this video/ I really don't want to lose this feature.
This is rock #4. I feel like this one will definitely show more banding if I tumble it a while. Curious what others think.
