Great looking cabs and cool shapes. Do you have a template(s) for those are do you do them free form?

Some are from Cabtopia on Etsy...and others are from templates I just picked up here and there. There's a lot of images on the internet for templates...and maybe someone...I'm not saying who...but maybe someone just downloaded the image and printed off the template! LOL |

Very nice Jason, I really like the needles shield. Gotta get practicing so you can get up to your old speed... I swear every night I logged on here and saw a couple of your threads just a while back. Thanks Perk!! Well...that's what happens when a person HAS to go back to work! LOL Man, you aren't kidding!  I've learned how to get optimal amounts of rock time around life/work/other hobbies. |

Nice set of cabs jasoninsd! The lace is my favorite but I'm in awe of the blues because I know how difficult that material is. You did a nice job keeping a uniform shape on both. |

LOL I want to work my way toward some of those shapes but it will be a while. I bought two of the metal templates (Aleks Melnyk) off Amazon for a little less than $30.00 to start with. Ovals and pear shapes look good and should be skill builders. |

That bottom shield had to be reworked because the matrix got too soft on one side and caved in. So...I had to straighten out the bottom sides. It took forever to make sure they were even!! Ovals and pear shapes look good and should be skill builders. When I first started making cabs, I made a TON of teardrops...and I do mean a TON! People used to give me grief (in a good way I think! LOL) about how many I was doing. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I learned a lot about how to work material...and how to maneuver the cab on the wheels when I was doing that. I do recommend tossing in a few "odd" shapes every once in awhile...but try out the first ones with "throw away" material. Something that isn't pricey, and you won't be disappointed (or out some great material) if it doesn't turn out. Just a suggestion. |
