Finally got around to the rest of the finds, way more fun with a couple days memory lapse! Almost what I call a mudstone, its too bad it has that deep indent. It feels solid, lets see how it does a week in the the tumbler
This is your classic pocket rock, solid find all around
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the amount of blue I found out this way. I seem to find a lot with this type of matrix, some more solid than others.
This blue is pretty, but it's not going to tumble...
Oddly enough, it only rained 4 or 5 times in the 3 months I've lived out here. Yesterday though, classic slog rain day.
This guy stopped space and time to get across the sidewalk

Glad to see you are enjoying your time here. You’ve gotten out this summer way more than I have! 👍👍 People are funny. It doesn’t rain all the time in Washington!🤣 But… it’s coming. 🤓Fall is really pretty though and one of the best times to be out! The gray skies really make the fall colors pop. Make sure you get out and see some of it!

Jeez had it really been 3 weeks since I've been rockhounding? Back to the new spot, there was hardly anyone there today. Being it might be the last respectable day for some time (70 and partly cloudy) figured I'd get down and take one more dip as well.
Calling for nothing but rain for the next week or so...
I think I figured out why they call it the Green River, the deep water really shows it off.
To my surprise their were salmon running today, I was hella confused what I heard splashing around in the water, and
Figured it was deer or ducks, maybe even otters. There must of been 50-100 fish on the bank I had planned on stopping at, ended up moving further up river not to disturb them.
Found some good ones, nothing great, but it was a much needed getaway climbing over rocks, swimming, and exploring like a kid again

I thought for sure all those flopping fish would be gone (though I didn't consider where ), turns out there were many, many more this time around. Instead of the 50-100 I figure were within eye shot, there were I would wager 3 times as many fish, not including that ones that had already died. Kind of a surreal experience for me and I was a bit mesmerized by it all.
Rocks are rolling, hoping to have something to show off for the first time in months soon
This was a small tributary running into the Green River, about the size you could leap over with every pool deep enough loaded with fish all trying to get as close to home as they could manage.

Had a chance to get out to a location that I have been trying to get back to all summer. We went in April and found that the river was very high, this is the view from a side trail I didn't hound last year. I assumed it was still unaccessible... The trail I was planning on taking had a sign posted and ropes, saying the trail was close due to the bridge being out. So I decided to check out the side path again and see what my options were. Hmm, that's a lot of missing water from before So now I know this is the flood plain and probably only stays like that for a couple months a year, but I have probably a 1/2 mile of rock bed to play with, some sections better than others. Most importantly the trail being out led to a discovery of a shortcut to the same spot Not sure if this is petwood or not? At one point there was a light drizzle. We've been hurting for rain for about 1.5 months now. Might have measurable rain tomorrow, fingers crossed. Huge butterfly bush, there was actually two right here... Walking back Ran into some hombres on their horses
Didn't find anything too crazy, but I was nice to hit the path again.

Watch out for the green river killer I 100% saw a guy in front of me maybe 200 yards up the path. Not sure if he was the one putting random powder on rocks.
Had my senses up, just in case, but never saw him again after the bend. People are strange.

Chad, that outing looks like it could've done good for the soul! Gorgeous landscape! That one piece does look like petrified wood...and a really cool piece if it is!
