Hi,
Due to a change in living arrangements, we now have someone sleeping in the bedroom that adjoins the garage. My Lot O vibe will be too loud at night for the person sleeping in that room. Can I stop it before going to bed and start it again in the morning? Will that mess up my tumbles?
Thanks in advance!

Can I stop it before going to bed and start it again in the morning? Will that mess up my tumbles? Thanks in advance! This is just my thinking, but if I had to stop my vibe overnight, I would spray some extra water in there and make sure it mixed up a bit before shutting it down. I can always let it run without the top for a while the next day to evaporate any access water. I just do not want the grit to dry out and turn into cement. Of course now I said that, there may not be a way to prevent the top rocks from drying out like that. And it could cause issues. So I think if I have to stop mine overnight, I would empty it and put the rocks in water. Sucks that you would have to do that, maybe you can find another area for it? But… you might as well test it. No reason for my making assumptions to stop you there. It may not be an issue at all. If you do, let me know the results. I’m curious.

I have no idea how people sleep without one.

The only way I could see this working without ending up with dried cement on your rocks is to fill the barrel with water completely covering the rocks while it sits - I would probably remove the slurry because I've had experience with waking up to a power outage and dried slurry all over my rocks (what a mess!) but perhaps you can just leave it slurry/rock soup, then in the morning, drain, recharge and turn on again. This would be an incredible waste of grit though...I think the noise issues are a tale for the ages as far as rock tumbling goes lol...

I’m sitting in my shop right now, four six pound tumblers going, a lot-o three feet to my left and a uv-10 three feet in front of me. To me it’s very relaxing, I’ve taken many naps with everything droning away. That lot-o will be like a white noise machine. I’m sure my post ain’t helping your situation, but the noise ain’t bad.

I'm a light sleeper, love silence while I sleep. If you have a paying tenant you cannot expect them to abide by the noise. Of course you could always ask tenant if the noise bothers them.

I have a 2 inch thick piece of Styrofoam under mine which sits on a folded towel which sits on a rubber backed carpet square. With the lid on I can barely hear it with a double 3 lb tumbler running. I agree it's a white noise. The Styrofoam was packing material from something or other, the carpet square(s) came with the house.
Can you move the tumbler to the other side of the garage. Don't know if that's an option for you.
To answer your question, I'd say no. You can't just stop it and restart it in the morning.

I have a UV-18 and stop it at night with no problem when using the coarse grit. The following restart needs several sprays if you leave it open because evaporation changes the vibration/rotation pattern.

I just thought making a cabinet for the LOT O Tumbler lined with some padding on the inside should help.
