Have been using the RayTech-10 which apparently is one of the noisier vibratory machines.
Now that the rock processing has been moved indoors for the winter, am looking for ways that others have made the unavoidable racket more tolerable.
It is being run in the basement on the concrete floor and away from "busy" parts of the house so it is just a distant rumble from upstairs but when in the basement itself it is LOUD!
I have read that one should NOT cover the machine with any sort of a box lest it overheat and I have seen where people keep the vibratory tumbler in an enclosed cabinet which seems to me to be just a fancy "box".
Hoping to learning how others deal with the noise !

I have a RayTech TV5 and am still getting used to its noises in the garage. Filling the bowl to almost full does help to suppress the noise a little bit, but it is not fun if you inspect its vibrating action when keeping the lid open.
I cover the machine with a cardboard box which definitely helps, but I never run it when it is too hot.
Somebody in RTH mentioned to replace the plastic bowl with a Thumler's Vibratory Tumbler bowl which worked perfectly and is much quieter but I don't have any more detail.

I am thinking seriously about getting a mini Ultra Vibe bowl for my TV-5 for better movement and noise reduction.

I built bathrooms in a large bar/music venue in a past life, and we lined the walls with sound proof insulation. Man, a band could be jamming and you barely heard a thing in the rest room. I've been thinking about constructing a 10x10 shed wired with 2 breakers and lining it with sound proof insulation and some fans in the eves. I'd dedicate it to tumblers/vibrating laps. I could put in a clean out sink that runs off a hose and drains underground . . .
All that to say I feel your pain - my garage is loud with 7 rotaries running - never mind the vibe! Wishing I had the builders insulate the garage!

I had a Raytech 5 so here's my two cents.
The easiest way to quiet it down was stacking a lot of heavy boxes around it and covering those with either a piece of wood or a blanket, or both. Just make sure to leave about 12"-16" of space on 3 sides.
The slurry thickness also made a HUGE difference in noise. Too runny and it was noisy as hell, just rattling (no matter how full of media & rocks it was). Too thick it wouldn't grind and would dry out really fast. This caused 90% of the contents to stick like concrete onto the bottom/sides. Of course that's except for a few rocks that would be loose slamming into the sides and eating the bowl away.
I got too fed up and sold it; never occurred to me to use a different bowl on it. Down the line I'd like to find a Thumler or a Lot-O to replace it.

@hefty $1k plus .... to quiet a machine that I am using to tumble free landscape and field and beach rocks is a little out of my monetary ballpark ....maybe after I win the lottery ... after I finally break down and buy a lottery ticket ..maybe

. . . I'm finding lots of uses for an air-tight room. It’s only a few grand more for the deluxe package w/anechoic walls and sensory deprivation tub.
