This weekend I'll be around Lavic/S. Cady mountains, and surrounding areas depending on whether I go to a gem and mineral show in Lancaster, CA (I'll share info on that below). I'm excited to look for some lovely jaspers and moss agates! This will be my first time in this area, and I'm stocked with water and tools for the trip. It shouldn't be too hot this weekend, maybe a little windy. Any tips or recommendations are welcome, and if anyone would like to join that'd be cool too. This is the information on the Antelope Valley Gem & Mineral Club's show in Lancaster, CA this weekend:

Will you be in a 4x4 or a 2 wheel drive?

4X4, but unless someone else is with me I'm going to try not to get out into super rough areas.

I was able to stop by the Antelope Valley Gem and Mineral Club’s show this morning. It was lots of fun and I‘m happy with the goodies I left with. This afternoon at Lavic was productive, I’m excited about the mossy pieces I’ve collected! Here’s a few pics, I still need to clean and sort my findings: I still have another day in the area, so I’ll have more to share soon.

Nice haul! Those are some pretty reds! I'm sure they will make nice cabs or tumbles.

The colours are lovely. What are your plans for these rocks? I'm glad you had a rockhounding friend surprise you A recent thread has me thinking no one should go out in the wilds alone...

Looks like you did well, wish we could have gone. I saw on FB that my friend christopherl1234 was a vendor at the show, but too close to us leaving for our NW shows to make it there this year, maybe next year.

The colours are lovely. What are your plans for these rocks? I'm glad you had a rockhounding friend surprise you A recent thread has me thinking no one should go out in the wilds alone... I have some that are the perfect size to tumble, while I can cut/slab and polish some others with my angle grinder. I want to get a slanted lap, so I can try my hand at making cabochons. I'm glad they joined me as well! I like to err on the side of caution most of the time, especially when I'm somewhere I'm not entirely familiar with. I was mostly worried about snakes but during the couple days I was out there I didn't see any, fortunately. I think I did! Thanks again for your recommendations, I really appreciate it. That's a bummer, but it's definitely worth trying to go next year! It was my first gem & mineral show, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I thought it was great. Nice people, variety of vendors, the silent auction was fun, and I enjoyed talking with the vendors. Maybe that's just all rock shows, but it was a new experience for me!
