I'm not dogging anyone, either. I mean, they ARE cool, but to me it's like someone playing a prank- one we have to pay for.

I found an old mailbox on top of a post out in the southern California desert once. It had a pencil and a note pad in it with a few names and dates. The thing looked pretty old.

"Not Bansky" was inscribed on one of them. So, I'm going to say an artist with really deep pockets. I'm really curious about aliens etc. and I loved the mystery and intrique that these stories sparked, right up til I read this post. If this is true they stupidly ruined every bit of the mystery they were going for and every one of them should be removed and investigated as criminal mischief.

"One even popped up on top of Glastonbury Tor, an area steeped in Celtic mythology, inscribed with the words "Not Banksy" on the side."

I see in various articles that these monoliths disappear about as fast and mysteriously as they appear.

I don’t like seeing anything in nature that is man made. All the hippies around here stack up those rock cairns. I kick everyone one down I see. Did it once right after I saw some people stack one up. Girlfriend told me it was uncalled for. I begged to differ 😂 I'd like to find one made of high grade gold ore or kimberlite with tiny gem stones... ...or one of these. My favorite monolith - a moneylith.

The ones I've seen appear to be made of polished Stainless Steel... I would pay the removal haul bill to bring them to use as corner markers on some mountain land.
If they were set good and filled with concrete, I expect they would last maybe 1000-years or longer.

Not Banksy? Might as well put a note under the Christmas tree . . . not Santa Claus.

I really wouldn't care who made them... If they are made as well as they appear, my offer stands.
I would pay a removal and hauling bill to bring them.
I could use them.

These appear to be somewhere in some Las Vegas, Nevada members backyard... Could you go out and get us a pic and analysis of what is there? vegasjames

My friends who worked in the BLM or Forest Service hated when the "rainbow gathering" folks came to trample the forest.

My offer still stands... I'll pay to bring those Stainless-Steel monoliths. I can put them to good use marking corners between mine and USFS land.

These appear to be somewhere in some Las Vegas, Nevada members backyard... Could you go out and get us a pic and analysis of what is there? vegasjames It was at Downtown Las Vegas at one point. With all the cameras everywhere, I find it hard that they do not have the people involved on video somewhere.
As far as where it is here, from what I heard there is not exact coordinates to the site. Hikers have been going out trying to find the correct trail to the site and marking the trails it is not to narrow it down. And even getting to the trail head is up a long, bumpy dirt road.
If it were fall or winter I would maybe give it a shot, but this is not the time for people to be hiking out there. Last couple of days have been a bot cooler, up around 100F, but we are shooting back up to near 110F this week. Too dangerous to be hiking out in those temps. Some couple just had to be rescued by helicopter a few days ago in Southern California hiking in temps like this. The lady was in pretty bad shape.
Furthermore, there is no telling if the monolith is even still there. When it showed up in Utah, which was the first time I heard about it, the monolith was gone after a few days.

vegasjames Don't hurt yourself looking for it... I know it must be very hot in the desert. If you can load it... I'll take it.

vegasjames Don't hurt yourself looking for it... I know it must be very hot in the desert. If you can load it... I'll take it. From most the locations I have seen this show up, It is likely flown in as it is usually in very remote, hard to reach spots. I assume that the thing is relatively light as well, such as a very thin layer of polished stainless steel over a styrofoam core to make it easy to move. This would explain the remoteness and hard to reach areas, so nobody walks off with it.

They are 100% all man made. Placed just to stir people’s curiosity of how they got there. Best used for target practice. I ever see one here, I’m getting all the tannerite I can get my hands on and blasting it back to where it came from 😂 Yeah, they don't belong in the wild. Neither does a lot of the trash. Yet the BLM has made it illegal to pick up anything over 50 years old, which includes old beer cans and bottles littering the desert and even those old can pull tabs from the 70s.
