The motor on my 33b died and I’m having trouble finding a replacement… Anyone have a line on where to get one of these things?

I just saw people talking about this on here a few days ago but I don’t remember who they were. Also I believe they said Covington Engineering would be beginning to make the Lortone tumblers. I didn’t look any further into that comment, it was news to me. But you could search some of those keywords on here and look specifically for recent posts.

Check with Minnesota Lapidary Supply tomorrow. Someone said a few days/weeks ago that they had ordered a bunch of replacement motors from I think Indonesia. But you might check with Covington too.

Minnesota Lapidary was very nice to me. I ordered and received new shafts, bushings and belt for Q12/66 from them. Did not need a motor.

So I called the good people at Minnesota Lapidary Supply yesterday and finally had some good luck. They just received a bunch of 33B motors!! I ordered 2, just in case there's supply issues in the future. He said the threaded mounting posts are a little too long for the acorn nuts to tightly hold the motor in place, but they include some nuts and washers to account for this. I should get them in the next few days and will provide an update here on how things look!

if you measure carefully- the distance between the mounting screws on the "C" motor and the shaft diameter, you can buy a good generic motor on eBay for half the cost of a lortone branded motor. I've bought such a replacement motor and found that the mounting screw separation seems to be sort of standardized. Congrats on finding anything Lortone in stock. I spoke to Kingsley North today looking for parts and was told Covington still hasn't resumed production of Lortone equipment and isn't yet offering spare parts. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.
