I’ve just started learning how to cut agates. I cut a few pieces from my trip to eastern Oregon this spring. I thought maybe I could skip tumbling in the rotary and just put them through the lotto. But after getting them out of the polish stage, I could see still had the marks from the saw, and they didn’t polish very well.
If I put it back through and leave it in the 220 a little longer, will it take those marks out or do I have to do the rotary?

For my Christmas ornaments I always start them at 220 in the Lot-O (right after sawing) and it always gets rid of the saw marks. I usually do 2 days max at 220. This week I did one day and the saw marks were gone. Clear quartz, amethyst, prairie agates and one or two other hard things.
