I've come across them to varying degrees in about 15-20% of the Montana nodules I've gotten.
More often that effect is limited to small pockets in more oddly shaped nodules though.
And I don't think I've seen any as nicely defined and framed as that one, very nice piece!

Sands, That is an amazing slab...I have never gotten Montana agate with those patterns...I've had the nice yellow with dark inclusions. That is so much nicer than any I've seen before. csroc

Livingston can be really windy, and it is starting to get "discovered" which means its growing fast and property is getting expensive, but I'd say there's still a chance to get in.
The best agate beds are down river a long ways, like 3-400 miles, but there's lots of other great rocks all around the state.
Be prepared for real winters though.
