The five I cut before that one all had problems, mostly part solid and part hollow. I think I will be able to salvage most of them. With that one I skinned it the best I could on both sides. Yes you are right, it would have turned out better on a grinder but after the others and thinking about the time it took to get them out of the basalt I just plunged ahead.
There was one that took over a hour to get out. It turned out to be mostly purple crystals (Amethyst?) it looked like a sweet potato and while it is pretty cool looking I was disappointed it was not red plume.
I think the next time I go I will spend a couple of days in the field and the rest in the basalt.

A finer person you will never know. It's just the West Texas way. Trey with Mark and Pho. My favorite skinny little K-9. Though in terms of weight and size, she's more like a K-2. The master's hands at work. Condor

Did anyone see any reptiles or tarantulas? Randy - I only saw one lizard and it was in the cabin riding on Gil's leg.. lol Susan told me she saw a small black snake (rattler)... and there were very few, very small spiders. No reports of scorpions that I know of either and we were practically looking for them... Nice Plume Mark! Glad to see all that hard work paid off! Gil - Trey came up to the cabin on his horse before we left on Sat. I didn't think to get a pic darnit

Gil - Fergie may be a K-2 in size but she's a K-10 in attitude. She wanted to kick some raccoon butt that last morning.
I saw one little black-tailed rattler. That was it. But I did see raccoons, wild turkey, cranes, ducks, eagles, hawks, ravens, pronghorns, mule deer, kit foxes, jack rabbits and ringtail cats. Others saw Javelina.
Oh, Daniel - if you slab up that white and gold piece in Pic#3 send me a slab. YUM!

Well, I cleaned up and arranged my shop area this evening! I should be able to cut this week after work. I am ready to do the Picture CD's. All Blitzers...............please email your pictures to me at sbreed97@msn.com Jan needs some pics asap for her speech next month!! We will be in the local newspaper. It sucked going back to work today. I missed the peace and quiet!! I missed the friendship of people that understood me. It's like the ranch was reality for me and the real world is not. Wierd! More pics tomorrow night!!

The Ballad of The Stupid Stoop as sung for me by Condor
One find day I was walking along, multi-tasking as I've done for so long.
The day was nice, and my mind was clear. It was such an event, wish you'd been there.
Stupid stoop...yeah...Stupid stoop
Well the floor came up to me so fast and furious. I had no time to react I was delirious.
It could have been one knee, but no it was two. Now when I look at them they're both black and so blue.
I hurt my wrist, and the pain was intense along with a bum eye socket, I'm really a mess.
Stupid stoop...yeah...Stupid stoop
Whenever I try to inhale it doesn't come with ease. George Lopez is laughing, hey look, she can't breath.
The entire ordeal seamed to have lasted forever, yet it was only a moment in time as I seem to recall.
I was knocked unconscious by that G-damn fall.
When I came to, 'ol Fergie was there like a ringing a bell.
She was jumping on top of me bewildered as hell.
And now you know my story of the Stupid Stoop fall.
Stupid stoop...yeah...Stupid stoop
Thanks, Gil, for embarrassing the heck out of me. :-*S

LOL Susan, is this song written about a real life event?
I'm just loving all these pics, I just start the thread then go play cards for awhile while it downloads. ;D Takes forever but your pics are worth it. Cute little wild pig, do people eat them down there?

Man, that back-lit display of the plume agates was awesome. When Jan was describing what to look for in the field, I was only half paying attention to her because I kept drifting back to that display.
