It's time for the annual rockhounds pow-wow at Snyder Ranch, the one and only time every year when the public has access to collect on their ranch property. www.valleyspringspowwow.com/I plan to be there for the field trip Saturday morning, also hoping to score a few goodies from the vendor fair, maybe see some of the rest of you local rockers out that way?

Not the Pow wow, that was a really great meet- lots of vendors and some real deals to be found amongst the not so good deals, but I wanted to get in on the field trip to collect the Valley Springs dendritic agate, they said the field trips leave at 9 but I got there at 9 and they'd already left! so leaving here at 7 was my big mistake, although its unlikely that I'll ever get out any earlier.
So since I didn't make the field trip I wound up cruising the show and spent over $100, but I have slabs to keep me cabbing for a long time!
I'll try to post a pic or two here....

Actually there seemed to be a lot more focus on rock stuff than native american rituals and dance, although there was some of that too, they also had a cool display of early gas powered equipment, tractors and other farm implements. But it was mostly about the rocks, several vendors had lots and lots of slabs, and needless to say I took more than a few of them home; I'll post a few others on the members photos page
