Well it took a little time, but at least it is up and running again.
Ordered a Lortone 33B motor to replace the C/E that Harbor Fright needed 6 weeks to order.
It was easy to do the switch over. I switched the 8 x 32 bolts that the Chicago Electric comes with to the 6 x 32 bolts the Lortone uses.
I even installed the little plastic fan from the old C/E motor. However, I don't think the fan really does mutch.
Anybody needs more information on how to do the switch, let me know. The Lortone motor is smaller, but a lot stronger.

How long did your Chicago Electric Tumbler motor run before it quit? Mine was making some rattling noises the other day. I put a few drops of oil on the moving rod that is attached to the fan and it stopped. But way down deep inside, I feel like the motor is on the brink. So, how long did yours work?

It's good to know that it's relatively easy to do, I'm sure I'll be trying it before long too.

Our C/E motor ran 24/7 for about 4 months. Repairs rather easy. Lortone parts easy to modify to work on the C/E.
My problem now is the plastic bearings are showing signs of wear. I would guess in the spring, they will be shot.

You can get the plastic bearings at Kingsley North. I just replaced some of mine on the CE. I guess I just did a quick fix on my tumbler, but will have to do something with the motor soon.....it's so loud!
Did you mention where you got your motor from?

Did you get the motor from the Rock Shed? I just ordered the motor pulley (found a place I can get it drilled .. yippeee) and a couple of belts from there. Told Shawn I'd let him know how it work but that I'd read on here that it's a good fix. He said he'd appreciate it and that it's good information for him to know. Just thought if you did get it from him, drop him an email and let him know too how easy the fix was. It's also helpful for us dummies that need to ask lots of questions ... he has the answers then. *sigh* Still going to be about a week for me that my tumbler is down ... don't that just suck rocks! ;D I keep hoping that if I complain enough hubby will give in and let me order another 33B. He's being kind of stubborn though so I'm going to leave it in pieces on the table for him to stare at daily until it's fixed. Hehehehehe
