pho i know you showed us your beautiful collection of quartz and how you displayed it so nicely. does anyone else collect and display? i have all these wonderful pieces that i got out of the rock bed that i wouldn't dare hammer or cut and they really should be displayed. plus now i've added collecting the spheres to my addiction . so as i'm comtemplating clearing all the books from the built in bookcase for displaying these i was wondering if anyone else has started a collection and what they are doing with them. look out library here i come ;D. kim

I've got quite a nice collection of minerals and rocks, agates etc. Its all packed away at the moment as when we redecorated we got rid of the cabinet they were in. I've got a gorgeous polished piece of Blue John fluorite , my precious!!! I'll have to get them all out again. I keep dropping hints to hubby about putting up a shelf ;D

I don't realy have a collection...just a few that I have found that I realy liked. I have a few rocks I have found over the years that I have kept because I realy enjoy looking at them but never considered it as a collection. I made that display shelf to show off those crystals I found because I thought they were so neat and pretty. Now that I am realy into tumbling,,,I will be making more shelves and display boxes to show off my pretties.... I realy don't have t room to be displaying my finds...and besides that, my wife collects teddy bears...she has almost 2000 about now and no place to show them either. Most of them are packed in boxes in the shed... Collections have a way of getting out of hand sometimes.. Making a display shelf or box is not hard to do. You can get a bookshelf from Walmart, put in a few recessed lights and ...there ya are.. I also give away some of my pretty rocks and crystals as gifts...I figure there is no better way of showing I care than to give something I treasure.... Hope this helps...

I don't have a rock collection however I do collect other things including DUST (yuck). I have alot of rocks though that I havn't decided what to do with so I will be keeping them in a bowl to display until I have the time to do some more wrapping or my sister paints a picture and we glue the rocks to the painting. Kim, I have quite an extensive rock/mineral collection but almost all of it is in boxes waiting for the owner to get off his butt and display them!! I've done a lot of trading with people not only from the USA but as far away as Nepal,Iceland,Japan and Australia.I have a few minerals that are self collected from here in CT,VT,NC and NY. I have petrified wood from all sorts of locations, some is tumbling rough and some are specimens.I even have a piece of "wood" from Ohio. There's a bunch of opened geodes and thunder eggs along with a big wooden box full of un-opened thunder eggs, which I would guess weighs at least 250 lbs. that I got when I bought 2 of my slab saws. The rest of my "collection" would total out somewhere around 1200 -1500 lbs. That's the good news,,,,,,,, The bad news is I still want M O R E !! I didn't mention the alabaster and gypsum I have for carving did I ?? LOL Another collection I have consists of all sorts of motors, shafts, bearings, hoses, tons of wire, mop handles, buckets, light fixtures, sheet metal, nuts and bolts, thousands of all type screws and other fasteners, wood, coffee cans,,,,,,,, Get the picture?? Oh yea,,4 guitars,4 amplifers, all sorts of recording equipment, tapes, old records,,,,, A white Marlin,Chinook Salmon,Brown Trout,,,etc all hanging on my walls,,,,,in the basement of course!! LOL I'm embarressed to say that, that's not all of my "collections". I still want more of that "stuff" too !! Tom

I collect all kinds of rocks, all sizes. The large ones, some up to 600 ponds are out in my rock gardens. I have a 5 gal bucket of all green rocks that when I get finished tumbling them all I am going to either glue or mortar on to a bird bath. I also have a collection of pet wood in glass display dish and countless jars of agates waiting to be tumbled. I also recently acquired a bunch of amethyst my husband brought home from a job site that he called a purpley crystal thing along with lots of crystal quartz some rose quartz and some smokey quartz that are in too big of pieces to tumble and I don't have the heart to break them up with a hammer. I just recently got my first tumbler and am currently tumbling my second batch.
