My goodness. Your mother has it going on. Congrats Cookie. Now you can start slabbing and making shapes to tumble. Start with a few pieces of tile, cut them, practice. Move up to glass pieces. Do some stones you do not really think have treasures just to get the feel. Watch how the blade reacts to pressure, side pressure, how wide the kerf is. I do not know what lubricant to use with that unit. I would speak to Dave at Kinglseynorth. He has always answered my questions. I tried Cool Tool and I did not like the sediment. It seperated and formed flakes that jammed my bearings. I now use straight mineral oil. It is foamy, and slippery, and makes a mess out of turquoise. I have to soak turquoise in alcohol to get the mineral oil out of the pores. Hey Kid, Santa been goo to you. Now we want to see some treasures!

I have some local rock that probabley has little potential, but would do better slabbed then broken up. Oh, God light, grant me some spare time. I have to set this up in the basement somehow. This is gonna be too much fun! I'll call Kingsly North for some info. It came with some parts that I'm not sure how to use. The instructions are really vague, I had to figure most of it out myself. Doc, do you apply the mineral oil directly to the blade? WOO HOO, this is gonna be fun. Now, as soon as I can afford a new tumbler, I'll be in business ;D Happy Holidays!

Wow Cookie, that's great! And it even comes with a diamond blade. Can't believe the price on it either. Have fun, let us know how you like it.

Oh, Cookie, you were a very, very good girl to get that for Christmas! What a cool saw - rocks, wood and a router all in one! You lucky girl! It won't take you long to get the hang of it. Can't help you with what kind of lubricant to use though! You gonna be a cuttin' fool now! llana

Your mom must love ya !! A couple of tips. When you are cutting don't force the rock in to the blade to hard but also don't just hold it there without any pressure.Feed the rock into the blade until it starts to cut and keep he same force all the way throughout your cut. DO NOT let the blade bend by pushing the rock to one side or the other while feeding it through the cut. This happens mostly when you are trying to cut a rock that doesn't have a flat surface to put on the table of the saw.Sometimes you can grind a bump here and there to make the rock more stable so it doesn't rock back and forth during your cut. There are other methods as well but try the bump grinding first. I looked at the photo of your unit and it looks like it has a sump for coolant. I have used water as a coolant on my 8" trim saw for several years and still have the same blade. I use a water additive made by Diamond Pacific which I order from therockpeddler.com. Here's their info and price list: DIAMOND PACIFIC WATER AID. Concentrated wetting agent. It increases cutting action of sawing, grinding, and sanding/polishing operations using water by eliminating surface tension and preventing hydro-planing. Allows easy flushing of residues, extending life of tools. Biodegradeable. Approximately 6 drops per pint of water is all that is needed. ITEM SIZE OUR PRICE 410-WA-108 8 Oz 3.00 410-WA-116 16 Oz 4.95 410-WA-110 1 Gal 25.00 You use only 6 drops per pint of water and it does a great job. I'm sure Kingsleynorth has a comprable product so when you call you can ask if you like. Tom

Kim, it was a surprise in that I thought my hubby was gonna get it for me. He got me a lighted curio cabnet I've wanted for a long time, so I wasn't dissapointed, but very pleasently surprised that Mom got it.
