(Sorry to steal your line Cookie, it just works *smile*) We just got back from our family Christmas get-together where a grand time was had by all ... but I'm sure I had the "grandest time of all". My son gave me two buckets, totalling 25 lbs of Lake Superior Agates that he's been collecting over the past couple of years. I was completely dumbfounded when I saw him come in with those buckets (I knew what they were). He just smiled when I hugged him and said ... "Not every kid can make their mom that happy just by giving her a bucket of rocks".

I am impressed. In my opinion, there is nothing like sharing the process of what we do with a sibling. I hope they turn out real well. That sounds like a lot of years of collecting.

Aww, I am so going to enjoy them, they were beyond my wildest dreams. I had seen them when I was down visiting him ... seen and "drooled". I never in my wildest dreams imagined that he would give them to me, he's always talked about getting a tumbler of his own. It was the most wonderful surprise and yes Cookie, I'll see if I can't get some pics tomorrow.

Hey Cher, your son obviously has "the eye" for this kind of hobby! If he can pick out Lake Superior Agates that well, he might be able to make some money. You're a lucky lady to have children that are willing to take that much time to make you happy. Ron ps. I'm a little jealous now. I've been wanting to get up to Lake Superior to do some agate hunting. I guess I'm just going to have to make a point the get up there next summer!

I have to tell you Ron, on my trips to the big lake, I have yet to find a "laker" there but I've sure found a lot of other neat stones. Gravel pits, that's where you find lakers, at least that's where I find them. In July, Moose Lake, MN (that claims to be the LS agate capital of the world) has a celebration, I think they call it "Agate Days" and there's supposed to be some gravel pits around the area where the owners will let you go dig around in them. Might be worth checking out.

If he has been collecting them for a few years I am surprised he was able to wait until this Christmas to give them to you, now that took patience. That is gift I would like to get. Tami
