When it sounds like a constipated mouse, you need to add roughage! Seriously though. It sounds like the front thrust bearing is a little dry. Might add a few drops of 3N1 oil to the split in the nylon washer. If that works, then when you have finished the batch, remove the thrust washer and use some lithium/white grease to the shaft and bearing.

Oh, yeah. Do not add oil or grease to the belt or pulleys.

The type of oil that he mentioned is the lightweight sewing machine oil, it worked great on mine. Also check your belt and make sure it is aligned. Tami

ok i took the cover off the belt area and oiled the bearing but what is the deal with the oil getting all over in there? am i suppose to be unplugging the unit before i oil this area? cause i'm not so is it slinging oil on all these other things? i'm only using 1 drop. i used many q-tips to get the oil off the body of the machine, the small thing the belt sits on and the large thing the belt sits on (i'm sure there are technical names - pulleys?). i don't notice this happening on my other units and this is the unit that completely stopped awhile back and y'all guided me to getting it running again by cleaning all this area before and moving the motor to tighten the belt. tami how would i know if my belt was aligned or not? kim i did unplug it to clean where the belts are . it seems to be squeaking less after all of this but my other tumblers could be drowning out the squeak so i'm going to stop them for a minute and listen.

Too much oil. Apply one drop (or less) with toothpick with tumbler unplugged. Turn shafts by hand so oil is distributed around (inside) the bushing. Wipe any access off of tumbler.

ok jimmy that makes sense to me so i'm gonna try doing it that way and see if that clears up the problem. i've been putting the drops with the units rolling. what about when you put the drop in the motor every 3 mos. - do you need to unplug it then too?
