I am tumbling my first load of blue tigereye and am wondering if I can get some help of grit or polish to use to make these really shine. Any tips for tumbling tigereye would be appreciated. Thanks!

i just finished a load that had tiger eye that was both blue and gold. I think i went about 3 weeks in 60/90, 1 week in 120/220, 1 week in 500, 1 week in tripoli, and 1 week in titanium dioxide. they really have a great shine too. I used pellets in the tripoli and polish stages

i use 1000 a.o. where jackson uses the tripoli and sisa will work here too but it sure did help my polish stage to add that 4th step before polish. starting out the 400 or 500 grit was my pre-polish stage and it just wasn't doing the trick.

I run my tigereye through each of the grit phases for one week, then SISA pre-polish for one week, then aluminum oxide polish for one week. Tigereye is a softer stone than quartz, agate, or jasper, and shouldn't have to tumble for several weeks in either of the grit phases. As usual, you will need to decide for yourself how long to tumble the stones in any grit phase. I have not used tin oxide in the past for polishing tigereye, but I have a barrel of tigereye polishing in Stage I grit right now. After looking at the pictures posted by Krazydiamond, I think I'll try tin oxide on this current batch. Thanks for raising the question, Blue Tigereye.

Thanks for all the good advice!! Have just started my 1st week at 220 after having run at 60/90 for two weeks. Should be done for photo finish in about a month now. Guess it takes awhile for us mortals to perform miracles
