I've got a rather old "GemStone" Vibratory Tumbler & last night it started to make a short but sharp 'clicking' noise. Almost like a spark but definitely a metallic sound to it. Today there is now a grinding sound associated with the click & it seems to be getting worse. My question is, are there oil points on Vibratory Tumbler Motors? I know each motor will be different but before I take this thing apart I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure that it's not totally sealed & I'd just be tearing it down only to be put back together without being able to lube anything. As always, many thanks to those who reply Last

Well, I took it apart (as far as I was comfortable with anyway) & couldn't find any oiling ports anywhere? I did put some small drops on the shaft where the counter weight is & blew out the motor with compressed air. Then put it back together & it wouldn't run. ..... So back apart it went & it turned out that the shroud which covers the counterweight was obstructing a free spin of the motor so I just removed it & then back together it all went. Well.... the grinding noise is now gone but that darn clicking noise though less pronounced is still there. Ah well, guess I'll just keep a very close eye on it & see if it starts to get hot to the touch before I delve any deeper for more problems. That's my story! Last

Hi connrock & thanks for the reply. Yes I'm still having the clicking issue & it's getting louder. Also noticed that on start up it seems almost not to want to go but then kick into high gear. I wish I knew enough about electric motors to really find out what's truly going on. I'm thinking & of course I'm only guessing I have a spun bearing? Or maybe even something terminal? I hope she lasts though as I love this Vibe tumbler. It's a very heavy duty one made by GEMSTONE. If you have any thoughts or input please post em! Thanks! Last

I'm deeply saddened to report that the 'lil Gemstone Vibe Tumbler has finished it's very last batch. She went quietly last night. It's a very sad day in my rock shop. I stopped all of my tumblers for 1 minute of silence out of respect. Then back to work for all. I had a feeling it was terminal as the noise conitued to get worse & she had a harder & harder time restarting after a grit/burnish/wash change. Goodbye 'ol friend, we shall miss you dearly. Last
