Can anyone please tell me where I can find instructions on steps to flatening and polishing a large slab of stone so that I can covert it to a bookend? I prefer online instructions, like they have for rock tumbling, but any other suggestions are also welcome. Thanks, folks! Happy New Year!!!!

1 You will need to cut it. 2 You will need a flat rotating lap and water. 3 You will need a leather lap for polishing. As long as you can get the first cut, you can get a sheet of flat copper and imbed grit. 220,660,1200. Then you can get some plexiglass and imbed Cerium Oxide in the plexiglass. That takes elbow work but it is a lot less expensive than a machine for a lap, the laps, and the polishing lap. You can also use 1/2" steel instead of copper. It must be absolutely flat.

I have some Brazilian Agate slabs and would love to polish them... the problem is I have no idea how. Could you please explain to me what imbedding is? I would love to try this. Thank you so much. Imbedding is when you put grit on a plate, and turn on the machine, and roll the grit into the metal to use for grinding.
